Beautiful day for a run with the the crew. Baby Tess is only big enough for a short trip, but she tries her best to keep up. She gets to ride with me on the machine for half the run until she gets older.
I wonder if this is a large enough antler chew to satisfy them for at least a few days…
Miss Hazel is always trying to bring her treasures inside and take her toys outside.
Henry found a grouse while on his walk. Hazel could care less.
Doing what he is breed to do. I am pretty sure he is waiting for me to shoot them already so he can retrieve.
One of the biggest challenges of owning a Brittany (or multiple) is keeping up with their high energy. This can be even more difficult during the long cold spells Alaska experiences.
This video captures a snippet into one of my favorite games we play with the doggos; it is what we call “The Treat Game”.
I kick all dogs out in the cold (briefly for a potty break) then hide small treats around the house. When they come inside, I offer them an opportunity to smell the treat scent on my hands and instruct them to “find the treats”. It is both mentally stimulating and offers them some physical exercise while they use their nose to find these treats. Once they have discovered them all, I will feed every dog a treat from my hands to demonstrate it is done.
This entire game takes them anywhere from 5-10 minutes to complete.
No stuffy survives in this house under Hazel’s watch. Henry is more into the balls, which he leaves in every crevice of the house.
Enjoying the sun and exercising these two.
He just wants to be friends with the flock. No bad intentions….
Ignore the wild one zooming by. She was just excited the snow machine was running.
Hazel was very excited about the dogs racing in the Yukon Quest Alaska 2024. Thankfully, she knows her boundaries and doesn’t make it to the river during the cold months.
Henry loves the ball gun. Hazel is starting to demonstrate mild interest as well.
Made a path this summer specifically so the dogs can go on a walk around part of the property while working on training. They are so cute when slowed down 🐶💕
Henry is by far one of the best hunting dogs I have ever owned. He is slowly teaching Hazel the ropes of it. Old
Browning gets to be a slacker because he is retired.
Hunting the property! Hopeful that we can get them on some birds soon.
Pack of Brittanies enjoying the cool river on this warm day.
I wonder what she is going to do when the snow all melts 🤔
Hazel: The Pack Rat doing Pack Rat things. Even with a few feet of snow these Brits like to have some fun.
The Easter bunny delivered prematurely. Now Henry is terrorizing one of the chicks.
Letting the more experienced boy teach the pup basic commands on a warm winter day.
