Welcome to my page. My creation space. Here I’ll share what has been my private chicken, Silkie and Large Fowl, and bunny journey on my little homestead, Red Basin.
Sometimes sharing what I’ve learned, sometimes sharing what I have grown.
All things here are created and grown in my little mountain town. Right at the feet of the Basin, settled by my pioneer ancestors.
Agriculture is the life blood of our community. We boast a history rich in early pioneer heritage. Our little farm town is united in the common love of our small school. You’ll find us all at the football field or basketball gym on Friday nights, dressed in red, boasting our school colors, cheering on the kids that we all know and love individually.
My own chicken journey began as a science lesson during the days of the Covid pandemic, in our forced homeschool era. It didn’t take long for it to become a passion. I learned quickly that I loved creating beautiful egg colors and chickens. Making them the healthiest, and from that, their eggs being the most nutritious was the next obsession. I quickly became passionate about doing things right. SOP is always my goal. Bunnies came later, I was hooked from my first snuggle. But you’ll learn all of this about me if you follow my page for very long.
The health and happiness of my animals is of the utmost importance to me. I endlessly research the best husbandry practices. They are my pets first, producers second.
I hope I can share and pass on something of value. I’m still learning, always learning. Learn along with me!
