Dear pet owners,

With summer in full swing, it's important to be aware of the potential dangers that come with the rising temperatures for our beloved furry friends. While we may enjoy soaking up the sun and taking leisurely walks, our dogs can suffer from the heat in ways we may not even realize. One of the biggest threats to their safety is hot pavement.

Did you know that when the temperature outside is only 77°F, the asphalt can reach a scorching 125°F? This can cause serious burns on your dog's paw pads, which are sensitive and susceptible to damage. As responsible pet owners, it is our duty to protect our pups from this danger.

So, how can you keep your dog safe from hot pavement? Here are a few tips to help you out:

1. Avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day. Try to schedule walks in the early morning or late evening when the pavement is cooler.

2. Test the pavement before going on a walk. Place the back of your hand on the pavement for a few seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's definitely too hot for your dog's paws.

3. Invest in protective gear for your dog's paws. Booties or paw wax can provide a barrier between their delicate pads and the hot pavement.

4. Stay on grassy areas or shaded paths when possible. This will help keep your dog's paws cool and protected.
