We have completed our move to Upstate New York. Once the dust has settled, we will be posting an announcement about our new rescue and transport organization. Most likely with a Spring start date.

Meanwhile, our phone number will remain the same for the time being.

Bowie is such a handsome guy! Briggs is getter older and his back legs aren’t very stable. Bowie accidentally knocked him down and kept giving him kisses to make sure he was OK.

Bowie has been with us for two weeks now. He’s allowing more physical contact, which means we can start leash training! His scrotal hematoma has shrunk quite a bit so that’s a relief. HE wants to wrestle and play with everyone. He comes when called from the yard and has a beautiful sit.

Thank everyone that’s helped out. Getting him out of the shelter and into rescue where he can thrive is due to our supporters and lovers of the breed.

It’s been 10 days since we rescued Bowie and 5 days since his neuter. He’s still skittish but popsicles are a definitely the way to his heart.

I just realized that this month marks TEN years since I incorporated Western Idaho Shar Pei Rescue and started taking in dogs.

A HUGE thank you to everyone that has supported us from donations to adoptions. It’s been quite a journey but worth the ride!

I hope you will follow us when we transition to the other coast and expand!

Bowie is home from the vet after neutering. He’s also tested HW- and has all of his shots. Poor guy just whimpers and nods off. I have to stay by his crate or he starts to cry. Things will get better once the drugs wear off.

We want to thank everyone who brought Bowie to our attention. He’s still very scared and he immediately decided his crate was his safe space.

He has met all of our dogs and has been a true gentleman. He even plays with a couple of them.

Thursday AM he gets neutered and good once over to confirm how awesome he is.

He still refuses to walk on a leash, but we are being very patient and allowing him to adjust and build trust. We’ve managed to get a harness and collar on him, and they don’t seem to bother him. Baby steps.

We finally got a “stacked” (sort of) shot of Bowie. He’s still shedding out his winter coat. He has an appointment on Thursday for his neuter and other vet stuff. He’s getting braver already about coming out of his crate. Hopefully, today we will get a collar on him and start leash training. He’s great with the other dogs and Wiji the tortoise already tries following him around.

Freedom Ride! Meet WISPRs Future Legend call name Bowie!

This gorgeous boy got busted out of the shelter and got a 3 1/2 hour ride back to Boise with me. I didn’t even ask him for gas money.

He will be neutered next week and on to the future!

This Summer, WISPR will be moving to New York State. We plan to continue rescue operations there. What our name will be, we haven’t decided yet.

Adopters of our Shar Pei will still receive support from us as outlined in their adoption contracts. We stand by our commitment to lifetime customer service.

This move will allow us to help more dogs, without the constraints of close-in neighbors and arbitrary restrictions.

Please bear with us as we prepare for an exciting future.

We’ve saved a lot of dogs in Idaho, and also Utah and New Mexico. Thank you for your support for these special dogs.
