The Nikon Small World Competition was established in 1975 to honor the art of photomicrography, or photography through a light microscope. In 2019, this image of Daphnia magna, also known as the water flea, was a finalist in the competition. Daphnia magna is a small crustacean found in freshwater environments and is frequently used in scientific research due to its short lifespan and ease of cultivation. In addition to being a primary consumer that feeds on algae and other microorganisms, Daphnia magna is also an important food source for fish and other aquatic animals.

🤩👀Look at that lil one, it’s glass like sides are absolutely amazing for watching the bodily functions. It won’t keep the translucency into adulthood but nonetheless it’s still a beautiful baby.

This little one is ready for a new home! 🧬Genetics are unknown, came from an accidental batch back in late 2020. Would advise for no tank mates 🖤💚It’s a darker gfp wild with vitiligo. S*x currently unknown ( I’d give it another 8-12 months at least)
