Banks is currently on Post Release Community Supervision with a search clause.
Banks was contacted and detained without incident.
During a search of the residence, Deputies located 1.8 grams of suspect methamphetamine, over 250 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition and a rifle, which was taken apart and in several pieces. The rifle was later assembled and believed to be a functioning firearm.

During the investigation, Deputies discovered Barnes was on active CDC Parole. A search of his person and vehicle were conducted pursuant to his Parole search terms and approximately 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm handgun were located.
Barnes was taken into custody and booked at the Del Norte County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition and having a loaded handgun while in possession of drugs.

Message from Sheriff Scott: I am proud of our K9 program and eager to add an additional K9 in the future to continue to curtail the drug problem our community is facing.
