Copied from another post; author unknown. Please remember that dogs are dogs, and they need to be allowed to be dogs. Working dogs need to work, sporting dogs need to hunt.

"Just got a dog in for training yesterday, and the only question the owner asked before leaving was "will he miss me." That question makes sense in the context of this dog having severe and debilitating anxiety.

It makes sense because this 1 year old dog only got this way because he was "spoiled" to an extreme degree. He only got this way because he was not socialized properly as a puppy, and treated like a baby his whole life.

He likely won't eat for days and days and days because he's too nervous and scared. He likely won't attempt to bond with me on his own accord because he's too busy trying to find an escape route. He will more than likely have diarrhea and bad digestive issues because of his stress levels.

He won't sleep well at night or rest during the day because he's in fight or flight mode. He's too afraid to play with the other dogs because he didn't grow up seeing other dogs.

All of these issues at 1 year old. He has a long life to live, and he will likely never become the happy go lucky dog he could have been. He can certainly get better, but much of the damage is already done.

This is the reality of "spoiling" your dog to the highest of degrees, and not socializing them when they are young. This is what happens when we indulge ourselves and treat our dogs in the ways that make us happy, without thinking of the long term impact on the dog.

The owners are very nice people. They are caring and compassionate dog owners. But, in treating this dog like a baby, they have stripped away what makes him a dog.

Instead of asking "will he miss me," we should be asking "how do you think he will handle this." Take the focus and attention off of us, and direct it towards the dog."

Sniksoh W***y's Warrior Princess (2018 Winner ABC Nat. All-Age Derby Invit.) has received AI from RFC FC Mr. Staley. ( Doc is AI son of HOF Bean's Blaze.) 3. Planned repeat breeding of W***y's Miss Molly (by Beaver's Straight Arrow and out of SKF Little Miss Beretta) by NWGDC GFC FC AFC Starlight's Mercury Out Ryder. Theses are/will be the only breedings by W***y's Brittanys in 2023, and all interested parties will be thoroughly vetted, with preferences to competition homes. For serious inquires, contact direct.

I am sooo amazed at the number of people who post up about having lost their most loving pets. No collar with contact info, no micro chip, and a photo of car or boats with half of pup in background. Please prepare now, for the day that your pup gets loose. Get a good colloo ar and put your phone number on it. Have pup micto chipped. Take several photos...all angles.

W***y's Dixie Belle was awarded 2nd Place in Derby stakes at the Greater St. Louis Brittany Club field trials held at Sportsmens Assn Field Trial Gounds in Grovesprong, MO. Dixe was one of sixteen entries in the 30 minute stake. She ran a stylish race, handled nicely, and had one short but sweet bird contact.

W***y's Brittanys is proud to announce that BamaJama W***y's Sassy Sadie took 1st place in the Bill Oliver Memorial All-Age Championship in Eureka, KS. Roger Stowell picked Sadie from a litter whelped by himself and Marcy Beveridge of Iowa, in 2017. Sadie was in W***y's kennels, was trained and campaigned by Mitch until September 2021 when she was sold to Dr. Barbara Peppin who owns Sadie's sire, 2x Nat Ch GFC FC GAFC AFC Hope's Chief of Crosscreek. Sadie is now being trained and handled by Bob Burchett of Burchett Bird Dogs. Conway, Missouri, for Dr. Peppin. Sadie is now qualified to compete in the ABC Nationals, Booneville, AR in December.
