Most interesting encounter I've had with coyotes while on a trail ride
One coyote repeatedly attempted to draw out my 2 dogs while another 3 coyotes watched from a distance.
Both of my dogs stayed fairly close to me and the horse I was on the rest of ride.

Rey has been with her new owner for 1 month. Lisa has been working her on the ground desensitizing and building strength.
Even after a month off from riding, Rey remembered all the basics and feels ready to go on to a performance horse trainer.
I can't wait to visit her in a few months and see her excelling doing what she was bred to do!

☆Problem Solving: REARING part 1
I could have just got on and hoped for the best.
Instead I broke the problem down into small steps and addressed the issue every step of the way.
After roundpenning and lunging, I established lateral bend from the ground. Once she stood still with her neck bent and nose to her belly, I released pressure.
Next I put my foot in the stirrup followed by standing up in the stirrup on her side and waited till she stood still with her neck bent to her side.
Once I had a leg on both sides of her body, she immediately wanted to pull her head away in order to have the power to rear.
I remained calm and asked her to simply bring her nose back to her left side, once she did I released pressure.
I finished the session when she straightened her neck, remained still and gave again laterally.
That is the difference between training and just being a crash test dummy.

When starting c**ts, I always sit on them ba****ck long before I sit on them undersaddle.
This filly named Dallas is a classic example of how c**ts I start handle this for the first time.

Been so busy working horses, I haven't had a chance to post more videos of starting Gunner the stud c**t.
Here are a few highlights from his 2nd ride undersaddle😁
Gunner is a great example of how great breeding and owner handling make for a fairly simple starting process for a trainer.
Truly a pleasure to be working with such a solid minded boy!

Simply put the goal is to use inside rein pressure and application of the inside leg aid to gain

Quick baby moment at the beginning but overall Gunner was willing and confident.
Worked on creating bend in his neck paired with disengaging his hind end.
Then I began to ask for forward steps rather than lateral.
He is super smart and just needed a lil encouragement to help establish a gas pedal at the end

Doin groundwork with a mule, giving a jumping lesson, and taking clients for trail rides all between taking my 2 boys to and from school and baseball. It was another busy Friday as a single mom and horse trainer😊

The basic classical riding form should be maintained no matter what saddle you are using.
Riding is riding.
Balance is balance.
Collection is collection.
Extension is extension.
Just as the classical riding form is maintained across disciplines, the principles of a solid training foundation are the same no matter the intended discipline of the horse

Throughout their training, I have made it a priority to ensure that Toby and Jenna enjoy the show ring.
For Toby, we do our best not to apply excessive pressure at the entrance gate and we make it a point to release pressure in the show ring when possible.

For Jenna, I have always told her that her first goal is to simply stay on her horse. After that I give her 2 or 3 tasks to focus on and make little improvements each round. By her last round of the show, I told her that she knew what to do and to just have FUN! 🤗
My heart swelled as I watched her and Toby smoothly execute the tighter turns, turn the 4 stride line into a 3 stride, and jump blind into the sunset.😊
⭐💫For them both, the show ring is their place to have fun and truly shine a light on the trusting partnership they share.
