Update on our Sofia!!!!

Sofia is adjusting to home life very well! She has found unconditional love, patience, and, acceptance.

We love seeing all of Sofia’s firsts!!!! The boys first day of school! Sofia’s first trip to the lake!!! Sofia socializing with other dogs!!!! Sofia’s first day of beginning tracking training!!!!!

To think someone abandoned her in a milk crate….at just two weeks old.

It truly took a village to raise her. The love and strength provided by a young woman that fostered her…. She socialized her so well at such a crucial stage in life. Onto B2B, where she flourished in her training!!! And then home, where she is loved unconditionally by everyone, but specifically by a little boy with a soft spot ,and, a natural gift with animals. Sofia was made for him.

Sofia…from trash to treasure.

Miss Weezy and I worked alone today in what will be here daily environment! We took a few photo ops!

We worked ln confidence building and socialization.

I was so impressed that she not only worked through her nerves, but, she utilized her training and performed several beautiful sit stays while I attempted picture after picture!

Keep up the good work, Weezy!!!!! We are all so very proud of you!!

There is no better compliment than when our customers bring their next generation of dogs to us for training!

Meet Mowgli, a 19 week old Presa Canario, and Paisley, a high drive Dutch Shepherd!

Mowgli is pack mate to our sweet little Baloo! He is a sweet, soft hearted beast! At 19 weeks, he’s already huge! The photo does not do him justice! He’s definitely a puppy, despite looking like a full grown man! He’s sweet, goofy, and easily distracted by butterflies and grasshoppers!

Paisley is pack mate to our very large female Malinois client, Missy Mamba! You might remember Paisley from our posts a few months back! She was in the Bastrop County Animal Shelter! Mom saw her and called me no less than three minutes after I shared her info. She drove all the way to Bastrop the next day to take her to her forever her.

Paisley is everything Dutch Shepherd! She is energetic, wiggly, cannot sit still, and is super, super social! She just wants to be with her person (or trainer) and hang out! Her brain is constantly working and she does not have an off button!

Also joining us this week is our sweet friend, Riley! Riley is here for boarding, but, we absolutely love her! She’s matured into an incredible lady! We love our time with our Ri-Ri!!!!

A special thank you to Smithville Coffee House and General Store for letting Biggie and Weezy drop by today!

We are so proud of our Weezy! She was brave and confident! The snuffle mats worked like a charm to keep their minds busy! Biggie was his normal laid back, confident self!

The last few weeks of hard work put in by the puppies, as well as Mom and Dad, have really paid off! They were well behaved and peaceful! They represented B2B, and their family, very well!

What a great way to end the week!

Today we changed things up and brought in our beloved Oliver. Oliver is a pitbull that we rescued many years ago. He is a friend to everyone!

To encourage Weezy and Franky to be confident and comfortable in variable environments, we decided it was time to bring in a bigger dog!

Weezy and Franky did great! Biggie even came out and had a great time, wanting to play! We did have to do a short session of focusing our attention and listening to commands when ramping up play drive! But, as you can see, he did great!

It’s confidence building and socialization day at B2B!

Weezy and Franky were both brought to us for confidence building around people and other dogs.

With the patient help of Leilani, we worked together to let them all learn and experience calm, confident socializing.

By the end of the session, all four kiddos were hanging out together calmly!

It does help when we have like minded personalities!
They are all super social, just a little nervous because it’s new!

But! Look how great they did!!!!

We could not be more proud of these four! Technically LeiLei knows the drill, but, she is definitely a co-instructor!

Well done, Franky, Biggie, Weezy, and LeiLei!

Franky is in his last week of training. Mom wants to be able to take him out and about, with confidence. He was pretty worried about other dogs, so, we brought in our Queen Bee to help him learn! LeiLei does not lack confidence whatsoever lol. She’s a sweet little beast! She is teaching him it’s okay to be calm and confident around other dogs! He’s definitely building his confidence day by day!

Franky completed a 14 minute stay/place this morning!! This is a huge accomplishment for this busy body! His mind never stops working, therefore his body moves all over the place almost constantly!!!! He’s working so hard!

We are expecting our normal August heat today!

Air temps will be at or around 106 degrees! This means the sidewalk/roadway temps will be a minimum of 166 degrees!!!!!

Please take your pets inside! If you need to walk, please don’t walk them at peak heat! This is how heat stroke, burnt pads, and a plethora of other medical conditions occur! Walk early in the morning! Ground temp is still warm this time of the year in the morning, but not 166 degrees!

Make sure you and your pets stay cool and hydrated!

Our sweet little beasties are back for thier daily training this week! Mr. Biggie and Ms. Wheezy!

I am so impressed with their knowledge retention! They got onto the training floor and just went right to work! They will be learning their stay command this week!

Mom and Dad have done so well in socializing them!

Wheezy is showing more confidence today and is actually demanding to work! That’s a huge leap for her!!!!!

Biggie reminds me a lot of Big Bru♥️. He’s patient and observant. He loves to work and is along for the ride.

These two are just the sweetest!

After a trip to northern Wisconsin to take Sofia home, B2B is back in the swing of things!

Meet Biggie (fawn) and Weezy (tan)! This brother and sister duo have joined us for our Daily Train Ten Pack! These 15 week old Mastiffs are as sweet as they come! During their time with us, they will learn their basic obedience! Weezy has also joined us for a little confidence building!

It’s off leash day at B2B!

Our sweet friend, Odie, went home this morning! He was an absolute rockstar! Watching him see his family was a wonderful moment!

Our Max went home today to start helping mom as her service dog.

We trained him to open a drawer, in anticipation for the new kitchen they are building. But when we got there, I quickly realized there were doors, not drawers. So, we made a quick, positive association to the door.

Just a few hours after taking him home, Max has already stepped up and took care of his mom. She sent this to me minutes ago.

You can see Max check on his mom, go back, problem solve, and retrieve the juice box. He then downs, as was trained, helping her with circulation and support.

There are no words to express what is observed in this video. We trained this for weeks. I’ve seen him doing it thousands of times. But to see him work in real time, after such a huge change in his structure, leaves me absolutely speechless.

I am beyond proud of Max and his Mom. She felt the shift coming and also broke her pattern of getting her own juice box. She had the mind to record it all.

Back2Basics would like to welcome Buddy (white) and Enu!!!!

Buddy and Enu are a bonded pair. They have joined us for basic obedience.

Buddy was a rescue that was living on the streets for quite some time. When he first arrived last Saturday,
he was extremely distrusting. He backed into his kennel, shrunk down, and bared his teeth. We had to use a slip lead the first three days he was here just to get him in and out of the kennel. Fast forward six days and he has come around quite nicely! He let us switch out his collar for two others and is anxious to be taken out of the kennel. In just two days, he is already sitting, downing, placing, and staying. He has already built a lot of confidence, but, he has a long way to go!

Enu is just the opposite! She lives to please! She smiles every single day. She has a lot of work to do on impulse control, but, she is working hard!

Dad is super impressed with the progress they have made in just a few shortdays!!! He said they look like totally different dogs!
