Service Dog Max
Max retrieving a juice box for mom from the kitchen
Our Max went home today to start helping mom as her service dog.
We trained him to open a drawer, in anticipation for the new kitchen they are building. But when we got there, I quickly realized there were doors, not drawers. So, we made a quick, positive association to the door.
Just a few hours after taking him home, Max has already stepped up and took care of his mom. She sent this to me minutes ago.
You can see Max check on his mom, go back, problem solve, and retrieve the juice box. He then downs, as was trained, helping her with circulation and support.
There are no words to express what is observed in this video. We trained this for weeks. I’ve seen him doing it thousands of times. But to see him work in real time, after such a huge change in his structure, leaves me absolutely speechless.
I am beyond proud of Max and his Mom. She felt the shift coming and also broke her pattern of getting her own juice box. She had the mind to record it all.

Max!!! He’s learned to open the drawer, retrieve juice box, deliver to Mom, and down for comfort and support!

Britta and LeiLei! Stress obedience!
Just have to love a dog with focus! He never takes his eyes off of me. Valor…he’s a beautiful soul♥️
What a difference a day makes! Rachel began working on her recall/mark command yesterday! Today, she is showing me the efforts of her work! Rachel is quite impulsive and impatient. She is, after all, only five months old. But, when she puts her mind to it, she truly shines! This was a positive short burst session that ended on such a high note! Good girl, Rachel!!!
Paisley and our sweet B2B Missy, already playing together on her first night home!
Luke and his family moved shortly after we did! But! They still keep in contact with us and give us updates on Luke! Look at our Luke at the Rodeo! Being a good boy and a great service dog!!!! Way to go, Luke! We know that was not easy!!!!
What a difference a day makes! This was my approach to Yin this morning! A lot less fear! A lot less anxiety!!! Keep it up, Yin!!!!
Met Yin. This was our first meeting earlier this morning. He’s shaking and scared. He’s our new Rehab trainee. Watch for updates on his progress!!!
Redbull “Reddy” located another skinny rawhide treat in the enclosure this morning! It’s another excited and playful morning for a boy that wouldn’t even leave my side a few weeks ago!
Came to the shelter very early this morning! Woke up Redbull and went to work. He’s doing great on his sit, down, up, and shake commands! Someone left some bacon wrapped rawhides in the enclosure. Mr. Reddy located them with his fantastic sniffer! Watch his reaction to this first time treat! I couldn’t help but laugh at his excitement, enthusiasm, and just pure joy♥️. I hope someone comes for him soon. He’s such a sweet boy! He deserves a loving family.
