DM Blueberry had her first outing to Lowe's Home Improvement with Loki. This was not only a test for Blueberry, but for Loki as well. Loki stayed in his Service Dog role the entire time while providing a great example for DM Blueberry to see.
Everything Loki and I learn together translates directly to helping train our future service dog teams along side the team at Ridgeside K9 Ashtabula .

Fun at the ballpark
Can you take your training to an uncontrolled setting? The ability to do this comes from extensive training in a controlled setting first. Our Service Dogs need to be able to work no matter the distractions. They have very important jobs to do for their handlers.

I was blessed to be able to work with Debby and Bella on a specific issue. While there Debby S McCuistion showed me soime of the other tasks she has put on Bella. Soft Hold
Working the soft hold with Loki. This is a very necessary skill for #servicedogs that need to pick things up for their handlers. Loki is my test subject for all the skills I want to be able to help in teaching our teams.

Dead Lift
Putting the work in to keep healthy for Loki. This may not appear to be much, but having him remain calm while there is so much going on around him is critical. Service Dogs need to be able to focus despite the environment they are place into. We train in a controlled setting before we proof with public access.
We cannot account for every scenario, but we can train for calmness. The more I learn from Loki the better I can serve the #veteran and #firstresponder communities.
