I am completely in shock right now. GoodDog has removed me from there platform due to having two females under 10 lbs. I have done some research on GoodDog and found very contradicting information. I am sharing my letter to GoodDog as a beware of who they are supporting. The letter is very long but is important to share these loopholes of bad breeders being supported by GoodDog. Wow, I am completely taken back. You have made your decision, and I respect that. I am unsure where you are setting your moral compass? Some of the changes you all have made is directly from me such as added other coat colors to schnauzers since you have non-standard. Other changes and mentoring are from lifelong breeders like myself.
In part, you are correct about breeding smaller and it should never be taken lightly. I grew up breeding cattle and there are dwarf cattle being produced as well as miniature ponies. I lived on an 800 head beef cattle ranch and my family also breed lambs, pigs, dairy cattle, Border Collies, German Shepherds and Pekinese. Most of them are still breeding these. My husband’s family breed Beagles for hunting and trained them. My sister is also a certified trainer for large breed dogs and breeds German Shepherds. I took farm ag and was VP of FFA in high school. As well as my entire immediate family.
All my dogs MUST go through a complete testing and exams before considering them for breeding. A LOT don’t pass or are taking out of the program early. I currently have a black/silver 16 lb female that will be 4 yrs old next month that is coming out of my program. By your standards I could breed her and all would be fine. BUT, this is not okay with me and my program so she is coming out and will be spayed June 21st.
All my dogs are AKC. Every single one. This is a quote from your website promoting mixed breeds and you have unregistered and most important UNMONITORED breeders.
“Good Dog is a place for all dogs – whether that is a purebred, crossbred, mixed breed, a puppy or an adult, from a rescue or from a breeder. Our goal is to be a place for the public to learn about all types of dogs and all breeds and find the right dog for them. We hope that by providing education on things such as the difference between a purebred, crossbred, and mixed breed as well as standard coat colors in Miniature Schnauzers, we can help you make an informed decision about which dog is right for you”.

All my dogs are EMBARK tested, VET examined and cleared for cardiovascular, and most are CERF clear. Covid put a stop to that. Mine are ALL scheduled for CERF testing and it would have already been done, but I broke my leg so I had to reschedule and it takes time to get in. I also monitor their temperament as well as the offspring’s. I have removed a female solely due to offspring’s temperament and verified with my trainer. I stand 100% behind my contracts and would never leave someone holding the “bag” with a puppy/dog I produced. This is your response to a complaint with the BBB about the guarantee of a sick puppy less than 2 months ago. You left these people with a sick puppy and a horrible breeder!!!!

During our investigation, we spoke with the breeder and requested they present documentation relating to the case, along with the information you provided. Our team reviewed all information provided, including the breeders vet records for the pup and the contract exchanged between you and the breeder. After reviewing all information provided, it was determined the breeder was in compliance with their contract, which included the information pertaining to your specific pups health guarantee. Each breeder sets their own health guarantee, so we encourage puppy buyers to choose a breeder whose guarantee aligns with what they feel most comfortable with.

Royal Canin is coming to tour my breeding program in a couple weeks, and I am excited for that. I respect your decision and this maybe a blessing anyway to where I want my program to go. I wish you all the very best in finding out what you stand for and working with the shelters.

Dear Tricia,
Once approved, all programs are subject to periodic audits to ensure that our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies are upheld.
At this time, we do not recognize breeding programs that include breeding for extreme sizes, or sizes outside of the standard. This is due to the increased risk of health conditions associated with these sizes. We see that you are breeding Miniature Schnauzers under 10 pounds which are outside the standard size for the breed. You can read more about our dog size policy here.
