So.... We "had" two roosters. They were 1 years old, we hatched them from their eggs last spring. They were brothers, same dad. The dad died protecting the flock from a fox.
Yesterday they had gotten into a fight (not the first time), I was hoping since they're brothers they could have worked things out. But as most fights go, Jr lost this one. He was missing both his eyes when Danielle went out to check on the eggs. We both agreed we needed to put him out of his misery.... It's going to be a lot quieter around here, I'm sure the neighbors will be happy.
Side note... I've been raising chickens for little over 4 years now and this will be my first time eating one. I am sad, but at the same time I'm proud we can eat what we've grown from this land!

Breakfast this morning, had the pleasure of trying this ski queen cheese at last weekend. Was most definitely the best cheese I have ever had, we looked it up and apparently the Norwegians eat it for breakfast..... So here I am starting my day.

We'd like to introduce Yuuko, she's our Bengal cat. She's a retired breeder at 1.5 yrs old. I've never really been a "cat parson" but when I found out about this breed, I was immediately interested!

She's the most sweetest, well mannered, chill cat I've ever met. She knows her name, and comes to you when you call her (when she feels like it)... Cause you know .. she's a cat 😺

Tis the season .... The season for seasonal beers that is!
This Guinness is made at the Baltimore brewery, that I actually was at in early 2020. Stopped there on the way to DC, had a tasting and some lunch. Recommend if you're in the area!

Doing some work to the "chicken shed". Hoping to get them comfortable in there for winter. Put a window in the door, feel like it was a bit too dark in there. And also I wanna peek in on them from time to time 😜. Also a perch, for them to sleep or hang out on... Again just want to get em comfy for winter.

Anyone have a hen that always gets out? Ours is Chick-a-leta, one of our olive eggers. She gets spoiled with the good treats lol. She's a good girl, she follows me around usually up on top of the property.

Well the "little ones" are out with the others. These three are the first chicks we hatched ourselves, and the ones we decided to keep. Two of the three are roosters, we'll see how this goes lol. There's were four that we originally kept, we had a little polish hen with scissor beak. Unfortunately she didn't make it, we had high hopes and kept an extra eye on her... We were all sad. She was the most friendly little hen!!
