Can you believe it’s been a full year since Keatons surgery? Half a pelvis and only 3 legs but he is on NO meds, NO restrictions, and he plays, runs and wrestles with the other kitties and just lives the best life on 3 paws you’ve ever seen.

Looking for advice!! Keets is doing great, however he is SUPER attached to Lucy which is not a problem at all most of the time. However she had a couple of back to back trips recently and he did good for the first week or so but then he eventually got a little stubborn about taking his meds and eating and even started hiding from Lucy’s brothers who were taking care of him while we were gone. He has not let Lucy out of his sight since she’s been back but is back to his normal happy, relaxed and playful self. The issue is she will be gone again in July except this time for a full month. She is worried about him getting stressed/depressed and we have roughly 5 weeks to help him get more comfortable with the boys who will again be his caretakers. They are totally on board with trying any ideas that might help ease the stress and help Keets while Lucy is gone- they felt so bad for how much he was obviously missing her and kept looking for her. Lucy is making a point of taking him into their rooms and hanging out in there with Keaton and her brothers and has even tried to see if he would sleep with them but he cried all night. Any cat experts have any good advice on anything we can do in the next month to help make this absence easier for Keaton? All of our cats seem to have a preferred person in the house but nothing like to this extent- which given his medical history and how fragile and sick he was as a baby isn’t necessarily surprising, we just want to try to make it easier for him if we can. Thank you!

Look how much his fur has grown back since surgery! is doing so well! He is a little cranky right now because his Lucy girl is out of town on a fabulous camping trip in Utah but Ems and I are giving him all the love while she is gone. 😍

Guess who has almost doubled his weight?? Keaton went in for a check up yesterday and was just under 7 lbs!! He was only 3.5 when he had his surgery- his diet had to be so restricted for so long he was very small but since he has been able to p**p on his own now since February he is making up for lost time and enjoying all the treats and full meals! 😋 He had a great checkup - all clear- very healthy, his fur is growing back and he’s a happy cat! Thank you Dr. Tryon and Dr. Neidigh for helping us to !! He loves you guys a lot more now that his trips to see you don’t involve enemas anymore 😉😂

Today is the 2 month anniversary of Keatons surgery! His gorgeous coat is growing back nicely and he is still p**ping everyday and has even weaned off one of his meds and now simply gets a stool softener mixed with his food. He is so happy and affectionate and loves just being part of the family- on game night he makes the rounds at the table and checks out everyone’s hand- if you have bad cards he takes pity on you and curls up to offer good luck 😜😻. Lucy is still fundraising to pay off the rest of his surgery- we are so grateful it was SO successful but she will be paying this bill for quite sometime. So we are so appreciative of everyone who helped donate, prayed for and shared his story! He is the sweetest kitten ever and just so happy to be here!

His girl went to the beach for spring break so Keaton hasn’t let her out of his sight since she got back and he immediately claimed her new clothes she came home with. (He just got out of a bubble bath here so he’s getting warmed up as he dries - still waiting on all that gorgeous fur to grow back!)

Today is not only the one month anniversary of Keatons life saving surgery to remove half his pelvis and his right hind leg, it’s also International Tripawd Day! 3/3 Keaton is climbing stairs, playing with the other cats and most importantly p**ping on his own every single day for the first time in his six months of life!!! This was a radical and very rare surgery but we are so grateful it could be done. Keaton is proud to be an ambassador for the Tripawd community and looking forward to a very long, very normal best cat life! 🥰

Lucy had an out of state cheer comp this past weekend so her older brother took care of Keaton. He did a fabulous job making sure he got all his meds and meals on time and plenty of snuggles, her younger sister slept with him every night and he was spoiled rotten - but he still hopped right into her suitcase when she got home from Dallas just in case she was thinking about leaving him again. 😂

This is Keatons brother Brat. They love to sit in the window ledge together but while Keaton was recovering or when he is taking a nap on Lucy’s bed Brat watches over him from the window. He has become especially attentive and protective since his surgery. 🥰

Keaton loves to look out the window. He also loves his big brother Brat. Brat got to come visit him today in Lucy’s room and jumped right up in their favorite spot so Lucy helped Keets up there for a little quality time. In a few weeks when his stitches come out he will be able to jump back up there himself whenever he wants! 🥰
