We have been working on getting the new baby raccoon to nurse from a bottle. Baby kits make a noise called “chattering” to alert their mom they are hungry. We rub his tummy to stimulate him to urinate. In other to maintain proper hydration, what goes in must come out. Turn the sound up and listen to him chatter.

Does this look familiar? Where have we seen this before? Bea has begun to practice her dam making skills. She is slowly learning how to survive out in the wild. Look out because nothing is safe from her dam. Remind you of another furry animal?

For our newer followers…we have a 24/7 Livestream you tube channel of our big pond. The big pond is where Beave spent most of his time right before he left us. We are planning on starting Bea in the big pond as soon as it warms up a little. Check us out on our channel. We think you’ll love it. https://youtu.be/v39luEqKcvA

Beavers have dark orange teeth, because they have a different chemical makeup than human teeth. Beaver teeth have thick enamel on the front side that contain iron, keeping the teeth strong. Watch how Bea scratches her face when we show off her teeth.

Here’s one we hope you like featuring Bea and the goose. Bea was enjoying a swim in the stream and the goose came along to join her. Hope you enjoy the sounds. 🦫❤️

Have you ever seen (and heard) a beaver eating a banana? Bea has discovered bananas and loves them! Hope you enjoy the sounds.

Here’s a good video of Bea being lazy. We get a lot of requests for post of her feet. Well, this is what happens when you try to take video of her back feet…the lazy beaver falls asleep in your arms. We did manage to get a good look at her teeth though!!❤️🦫

Bea is trying so hard to bring the carrot and the pear into the bathroom at the same time. Eventually, she settles on taking one at a time. ❤️🦫

10/01/2021

Let’s see how quickly you can find Bea in this video. She’s somewhere in the stream. Bet it takes you a while. ❤️🦫

Here’s a throwback video featuring Beave walking through the door up at the lake house. We hope he is out there, somewhere, living his best life.

Here’s more of Bea swimming in the little pond. And, even a few squeaks from her too. She is growing a little each day!

When you’re a baby beaver and you eat a full meal and suddenly get very sleepy and just need a place to take a nap. 🦫💤

This is the first video of Bea using the doggie door to go outside. If you remember, Beave used the doggie door all the time. However, he used it to come inside not outside. Great job, Bea!

Bea has started to dig in the mud at the bottom of the little pond. Do you remember when Beave started to do that? She also loves to swim around the kayak, just like Beave too!!

This is Big Mama. She is an Eastern Water Snake. She has been living in the small pond for 7 years now. She’s a little over 2 feet long. She’s wild, but comfortable around us. We keep our distance and she stays close by. Here you can see Bea has found Beave’s old den that he built while he was in the small pond…and the goose is never far behind too.

Bea is starting to play more and more. She has definitely found enjoyment out of playing with toilet paper in the bathroom. We don’t think this bathroom is going to hold up to another beaver rehab, but I guess we will see.

07/09/2021

Bea is discovering household items and starting to play with them. Here you can see her getting into the toilet paper roll and causing some destruction. Seems like not long ago we had another beaver who loved to get into trouble too.

Bea has taken to the water very nicely. This is the same lake that Beave learned to swim in. Bea seems to really like the water and has a little more confidence swimming then Beave did at this age.

We just wanted to give a quick update on the new beaver’s progress. He’s adjusting very well to his new surroundings. He’s very healthy and he’s even started eating grapes. Beave loved grapes and apparently so does the little guy too. We can’t say thank you enough to all the followers who have reached out to us to welcome the new baby. We will continue to post more videos as he settles in. 🦫❤️

We just received a beaver kit from another rehabber that didn’t have the facility to take care of him. He’s about a month old and seems to be very healthy. We will now begin the process of rehabbing him. Welcome to Raising The Wild, little guy!!

Unlike beavers, raccoons are food driven animals. This means that they are much more tolerant of humans being nearby because they are omnivores that are always in search of a meal.

06/18/2021

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update: We had a Beave sighting about a week ago. One of our neighbors was able to shoot some video footage of Beave swimming in the stream near our house. You can see from the mark on his tail that it was Beave!

06/17/2021

Here’s one of resident barn raccoons. He has decided to take up permanent residence there. We put him on the lookout for Beave. Unfortunately, he wasn’t talking.

06/10/2021

We rescued Mia from a meat auction about 12 years ago. She only has one eye. The other eye was surgically removed. Mia always seems to take an interest in all of our rehabs. Here she is keeping an eye on the gosling.

06/01/2021

Here’s a video of Beave taken a couple of days ago. He’s working hard at spreading oil from his castor glands. This helps keep his skin from getting wet, which allows him to swim in cold water for long periods of time.

05/28/2021

Here’s a clip of Beave doing some much needed repairs on the muskrat den roof. He’s becoming more and more independent every day. Soon, we will have a live cam set up on his new den so viewers can see his progress first hand.
