Teaching is so rewarding.
Had the honor to give this young 3 yr old rider a lesson.
She is such a true little horse lady and nothing is going to hold her back.
Savanna is such a priceless horse to be so very loved and such a fantastic babysitter for beginners no matter their age. So very blessed!

Update on Amigo.
Another update on this pair.
They are starting to understand the legs asking the horse to go up into to her hands. So hard to begin with, as the horse trys to pull against or go behind the contact until they realize theres release at the right spot and then they can be allowed to stretch down and relax and go forward. Then you ask for the contact again. First itβs 3 strides, then suddenly its 10 strides and so on until they can hold themselves in frame and move forward at the sametime. Takes patience, repetition and time.
Also as the rider learns to release at the right moment you will start feeling the horse become lighter in your hands, their lifting under your seat and feel more push from their hindquarters.
Of course remember, there are going to be days where you are just so frustrated and not able to get more than 3 strides.
Nothing great comes easy.
That first step to your next goal.
This young 6 yr old lady stepped in to a new level by cantering.
We are all so proud of her.
She was both scared and so happy at the sametime, after this her first of many more great steps foward in life.
Do not give up!
One of this young riderβs best rides. To learn to ride a reiner can be a little scary at times because of the increase of speed needed to ask for a nice smooth stop.
Great job!
Riding when cold.

I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to have helped these two wonderful people who were in town with family from Florida.
They wanted to ride and get help understanding riding a reining horse as they had just purchased one here in Texss and had just arrived in Florida and is waiting for them upon their return,
So blessed! I wish them the very best of luck and look forward to their next time in town.

So first update with the OTTB and Amber.
Started out as in the first photo.
After working on a suppling drill it Turned into moments of giving to Ambers seat and lower leg pushing him up into the bridle.
This is their 3rd lesson and they managed to maybe achieve 4/5 strides of softness every lap.
Ask them to go forward into your hands then hold until you feel the lack of resistance through your arms and release. Her lower leg is asking him to lift and give not her hands.
He sure looked good in those short butsts before we would release and try asking him again.
Forward impulsion from your seat is the key to starting on contact and self collection.
