Just added a few nice 100% Het Darth Maul / Friedel x Friedel hatchlings on our Morph page too. We incubated for both male and female. Hatchlings are looking promising. We wanted to infuse a little color and pattern into these babies with this Friedel female. These should turn out really nice.

Just put some really nice 100% het hatchlings up on Morph, including this probable female clutchmate to the mel that hatched a few weeks ago. This female has one of the more unique face patterns that we’ve seen here. Definitely holdback quality, but we’ve got a lot of eggs still cooking.

If you’re looking for a guaranteed het that will get large and pair nicely with a Troeger, Lava, VRB, Harkito, etc, this female would be a great option.

We also just added some really nice 100% het Darth Maul x Friedel male and female hatchlings too that are a little lower priced.

Some of the breeders we have going this season. We’ve been anticipating this season for several years. Got a lot of variety in terms of lines, locales, hets, mels, etc. that will soon be available. The egg laying season is slowly winding down and we’re just starting to get some hatching from the first clutches that were laid back in late May / early June. Sitting on a lot of potentially killer mels as well as 100% hets for those on a lesser budget. This season, we set up two incubators and split clutches, so we should have a nice variety of both male and females available shortly. Hit us up if you’re looking for something special. Anyone else notice that their leachie eggs tend to hatch in clusters - I’m talking unrelated clutches too. We had around four or five hatch two weeks ago and then nada. Even among the same clutch, we’ll see one egg hatch and then two weeks go by and nothing from the other one.

I’ve theorized that low pressure may have something to do with inciting hatching because here in FL, it does seem that we get more hatching during storms, etc. I’m also wondering if a hormone or pheromone is released that triggers other eggs to start hatching once one does. Would make sense in terms of hatchling survival. Lots of research to be done on this topic for sure.

Why you don’t “count your chickens until they hatch” … and after you’ve flipped them over!

This past weekend was super exciting for us with the mel hatching along with two 100% het babies. But earlier in the week, we had a Yate x MCDM make it out of the egg on her own, only to discover that what we thought was excess yolk was in fact her internal organs! For reasons unknown to us, sometimes these birth defects happen.

We’ve been at this for over a decade, have hatched out hundreds of leachies, and fortunately, have experienced this only 3 times. The other two times only involved external hearts, which is the more common birth defect according to most larger breeders we’ve spoken with. This poor little girl only lasted a few hours after hatching 😞. Needless to say, we ALWAYS check the bellies of our hatchlings before getting our hopes up.

Troeger clutchmates that hatched today. Both cool in their own unique way. You can’t tell from this pic, but the melanistic hatchling’s scales almost look like velvet. They really do look like little salamanders at this age.

End of the line for the GT pair that created these two. These are full siblings, about a year apart, from Akela, our male VRB and Sid, a female Friedel. The parents have since been re-paired, and we’re awaiting hatchlings from both any day now.
