Hi my name is Bean! I am a healthy 75 lbs Great Dane mix. I came to the shelter as a stray in October of 2023. I am a playful goofball who loves to play fetch! I am treat motivated and I already know "sit" and "paw". I take my treats very gently. I enjoy getting the zoomies out in a big yard and like making new dog friends. I keep my kennel very clean and enjoy playing with my toys. I take correction very well and I can easily entertain myself. I adore belly rubs and I am very content to sit with you for some cuddles. I am heartworm negative, UPTD on shots, microchipped, and neutered.

King George is a perfect example of a gentleman. He came to us as a stray and has been doing ok. He is an older guy and very sweet. He is still pretty new here and we are still learning his personality. He is a big boy, weighs around 75 pounds, a little chunky right now. He is heartworm positive, and we have begun treatment. COURTESY POST! NOT AT THE SHELTER!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping out by sharing this post or reaching out to help. Mama cat and her male partner started living in my yard while I was away. In the meantime she had a litter of kittens under my front porch in which I have only ever seen 2. I called FCHS who was able to take the male who was intact because he was very friendly and enjoyed being held. However, she could not take mama and babies because mama was hissy and I had not been able to catch babies to pick them up. I knew that I had to get her fixed because a Tom was coming around so, I contacted trap and release in which we were able to get her to Spay Bay for spaying and Vet care. At the time of her spaying she was pregnant very early on. I have exhausted all resources I think. But I am hopeful that someone can step up to help these sweet kitties. They do eat at my feet within inches of me and mom seems to be hissing less. Yesterday she didn’t hiss at me at all. I think she is protective of babies still and a bit scared. Georgina got to go to a foster home for a few days while we did our construction. While she entertained her foster family, they were able to report that she did very well with her foster sibling (male irish terrier), even willingly sharing her toys with him. We all know that our community here is outstanding. But, unfortunately, unlike this news story, we have not had a single person come in to answer our plea of taking some of our dogs to foster as we make repairs and improvements to the shelter. We have close to 60 dogs here, and over half of them are being held outside, and while the construction goes on, they are living in tiny, wire, pop up kennels. If you have the space, and a heart for animals, please consider welcoming a dog into your home for a couple days, or even longer if you are able. It also gives the dog a chance to be out of the shelter for a little bit. Some of our dogs have been here for a couple years. If you are unable to foster, then reach out to us for other ways to help out. 🪚🛠 URGENT - FOSTERS NEEDED🛠🪚
Construction has begun on our outside dog holding area. These pups desperately need a place to go for at least two days while we build and insulate their area. This insulation will be done on August 19th so the dogs will need to be picked up on August 18th and kept until the 20th or 21st to give plenty of time for the fumes to go away. Vacationers are welcome to join in on the fun of fostering a dog as well. All supplies will be provided. We have so many lovely dogs that would also love a break from the shelter. Doug is the bestest boy❣️ He is still on a stray hold, but we are getting the word out there that he is here and is in desperate need of a home. He has a severe injury to his left front leg, and some cuts on his back leg that is being treated. He is also very high heartworm positive, the shelter is absolutely no place for him to be. We need a calm, quiet home for him to go to that he can relax and recover in. He is a Flat coat retriever, and anyone that is familiar with the breed knows just how loving and gentle they are, the staff here would much rather sit and cuddle with him all day than anything else, and that is also what he would love as well. He does great on a leash, weighs 70 pounds right now, but he is a little too thin right now. He does ok around other dogs. Very curious boy and likes to explore any environment he is in. Very outgoing and always wagging his tail. HE LOVES TREATS! He will raid your treat cabinet. Come meet this handsome gentle boy today and let him show you that he is your true love. Meet Maisey ❣️
She is such a sweet and playful girl. She was an owner surrender and came in with her friend Maximus. Maximus is also available for adoption. Maisey was sent to a foster to adopt home, but unfortunately had to be returned because the landlord decided that Maisey was probably going to grow up to be a big dog and no longer allowed her potential adopters to keep her. So, with broken hearts, the family had to bring her back due to no fault of their own, or of Maiseys'. While in their home, they reported that she was an absolute gem. She got along great with everyone and was so loving and playful. She acclimated quickly to her environment. She is dog and cat friendly, will do well with any type of household. She is around 6 months old and is an absolute sweetheart. She is a beautiful girl and is ready to make you her best friend. 🩵🩵MEDICAL FOSTERS/ADOPTERS NEEDED! 🩵🩵
These two young men came to us barely clinging to life. Ruff was found in the middle of the road very weak, unable to even lift his head, and covered in two different kinds of mites. The next day his brother was brought in (we are assuming siblings as same age and found in the same area). Tuff was in worse shape, he too, had two different mites, unable to lift his head, but he was also being eaten alive by maggots, we cleaned him up, dressed his wounds, and then started him on antibiotics for pneumonia. They are both doing well now, continuing their treatments for their skin, and they are now ready to go into a home. Please consider fostering, or adopting one of these precious babies. 🎉💖 ADOPTION ALERT💖🎉 Kronk found his home with a family of his own. He now has human brothers, one dog sister, and two human parents to call his own. Kronk came to us in December of last year as a stray, he was found at a church (perhaps praying for his perfect family?). The staff all loved his goofy antics and sometimes odd behavior, he always made us laugh. We are excited that our happy boy gets to go home. Way to go Kronk, we will miss you Big Guy.

🎉ADOPTION ALERT! 🎉 Paw Revere has been adopted to a wonderful family. He had a rough start, coming to us as a bottle baby after losing his mom. He quickly developed a severe skin infection and his legs became abscessed. When he was a month old he had to undergo a major life saving surgery. During that surgery, we found out that Paw Revere had a surprise. He is actually a hermaphrodite. He is both male and female, how unique. Paw Revere was a fighter though, and he never once let his sickness or pain keep him from being loving and playful. He quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite and everyone had to come and check on him and play with him everyday during his recovery. Once he was finally cleared for adoption, it only took one day for a family to meet him and fall head over heels in love. Way to go Paw Revere. You are a such a trooper and you are ready to live your best life.

😍💖😍THE BEST NEWS EVER!😍💖😍 Indie. Our longest resident has finally been adopted. He spent over 4 years living in a shelter. It was a bittersweet good bye as staff members played with him in the meet and greet yard one last time. No one could believe that he was finally leaving. He had been a permanent fixture for so long. One staff member stated he would not be able to look at the third kennel on the left without thinking of Indie. He spent over 4 years with us, but we never gave up on him. We knew that his day would finally come. His new life is already going to be full of adventure. His new dad will be taking him everywhere he goes. They will go to the beach every week. And then, by the end of the year. Indie will be leaving the country and headed to Australia. All those years stuck in a kennel has led up to him traveling across the world and exploring. We will all miss you Indie, and we could not be happier for your new life. Godspeed.
