Zoe has been healing so well from her leg amputation! We now have two tripawds soon to be three! Lucky will go in for his amputation in 2.5 weeks! This has been a crazy summer with eye and leg-challenged kittens!

Our Moon-Moon has recovered from her eye enucleation surgery! She is now cone-free!!! She’s a very timid girl and has not been comfortable enough to roam the house. Moon-Moon is the type that is just content to sit in your lap all day long. 😻

So the thing about Snow White and her dwarves…is they are all screamers.

Please meet Grumpy. His eyes have now opened…he might be a little uggies but we lub him! 😆 Baby Grumpy is grumpy because he’s the smallest of the litter and his big brothers steal all the KMR. He also has a bald patch on the top of his head which just adds to his ugginess. 🤪

Intake Day is always a long, hard day. This little 5-weeker is staying with us until his new foster mama picks him up tomorrow. 😻 He’s so tired! We tucked a blanket over him and he just fell asleep. 🥹

He’s probably relieved he’s inside for the first time and no longer living under a trailer in 100° weather. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Introducing Princess Charming!!! One of our rescue partners reached out to us asking us to take in a singleton 4-day old bottle baby. Of course, we said yes!!!

Mama Snow White immediately came to investigate when she heard her screaming her little head off during the bottle feed. We let her sniff her and she started grooming! Princess Charming is now Snow White’s 8th second chance baby. 😻😻😻

Snow White has finally stopped panting and open-mouthed breathing! We are so excited!!! We halted bottle feeding for 6-hours and unfortunately all but one dropped, so we will be back to bottle feeding every 3-hours. But, all seven dwarfs are latching! 😻

This is Zac. Baby Zac finally hit 2lbs and even found an adopter! We sent him to go get his neuter surgery but in the pre-surgery exam, our vet determined his heart rate was too low for him to safely make it through the surgery. 😭 We don’t know what’s wrong with him. We do know that he is 5.5 months old and only just now 2-lbs.

For those that remember him, he was with us back in April/May and lived in our incubator. We pulled him from our Adoption List and he will now just be living with us. Hopefully he will gain more weight in the next 1-2 months. If he does, we will re-visit a cardio consult and bloodwork.

So for now, Zac will just live his best life with us!

Prayers for our new intakes! We are at the Emergency Vet with this little family. Mama was bleeding excessively, panting, open-mouth breathing, and still seemed too big. Upon initial intake, the vet did find at least one more kitten stuck inside Mama. It has been at minimum 17-hours since the last one was born.

We are going to do an x-ray to determine how many are inside and blood work to see if we can find an answer as to why she is unable to give birth to the baby inside of her. Thankfully, the baby they could see on the ultrasound is alive and seems to be doing well!

We had to make a difficult decision today. A lot of you may disagree with it but we wanted to share it to bring awareness to other parts of rescue.

Personally, I don’t enjoy TNR (Trap Neuter Release). My gift is not trapping and releasing. But, you can’t really have an animal rescue without TNR and you can’t TNR without animal rescues. We have to partner with each other. One of our amazing adopters has been helping feed a big colony 10-minutes from our home. We’ve been working with her and will continue to work with her to help get everyone we can fixed!

We dropped off our 8 cats/kittens at the vet today to get fixed, be given their Rabies/FVRCP vaccines, and to get their ears tipped. This is the universal sign to everyone that this feral cat has been fixed. We were told upon pick-up that this adorable dilute cat was lactating.

Typically you are supposed to wait 24-48 hours to release a feral cat following their spay/neuter surgery. This gives them enough time to recover from the anesthesia and drugs, which sets them up for success at survival.

Because this mama cat was lactating, we chose to release her an hour ago. My kids and I walked the mobile home park knocking on doors and talking to people and trying to locate her babies so we could pull them all into rescue. Unfortunately we couldn’t find the babies or information on where her babies might be.

We gave mama cat food, which she ate and once she seemed less wonky from the anesthesia, we released her. Unfortunately we could not track her to attempt to find where she was hiding her family.

We had to weigh the possibilities of her babies starving versus Mama cat being unable to keep herself safe from moving vehicles and predators. Having to make this decision added to the respect I have for those that dedicate their lives to TNR. Thank you to those who work in TNR who offered their advice! This was so appreciated! One day I hope Mario’s Paw can reach the same massive numbers of TNR’d kitties that all of you do on a daily basis!

Miss Zoe is back from her surgery!!! She will be on kennel rest for a week while she recovers and adjusts to her amputation. She is very sleepy but we are hoping she wakes up soon and starts to eat!

Smalls face when we try to explain the math behind how expensive little kittens are when they weigh under 2 lbs but eat 2000 lbs of food use 10000 lbs of litter and have very expensive exploding eyeballs and bum legs.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting us through the loss of Bubba. It hit very hard and I honestly was on the couch for hours yesterday curled up under a blanket just crying. Reading everyone’s beautiful words of love and support and having my friend and neighbor @tinytimstinyfosterfamily bring us beautiful flowers and yummy treats was such a blessing. Moon-Moon arriving today so unexpectedly with her kittens that aren’t doing well with congenital challenges kinda got me out of my funk. All of you contributing to Bubba by commenting, sharing, and sending money gave him a chance. We gave him the best chance! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I want to give Moon-Moon and her babies a chance now. And we will be working our hardest to make sure Moon-Moon gets the help she needs for her eyes. We will be working our hardest to help all four of her babies survive. Baby Pluto has a cleft palate. He cannot nurse on Mama and he’s only 1.5 oz…he’s a quarter of the size of two of his siblings. The babies likely have other congenital issues that we cannot see. It sounds like the brother of Moon-Moon is the babies’ dad. But we are going to work our hardest and do our best to help this little family get a fighting chance! This is in Bubba’s honor! 🫶🏼 #cleftpalate
