No one is as thrilled to have power restored as a lady that milks 7.5 gallons a day (except maybe her cows? 😂).

Last night I hand-milked, which we got through ok, but both cows were like “wait… what’s the deal?”

Boy…. I sure wish I had generator 🤪

Tri Doe, Kippy + Red Buck, Pasrtysaurus Rex (daughter pictured for an idea on thickness & overall density) = these 2 little harlequin does. Their color is fun and their type is more what I’m working toward. Too bad brindle/harlequin aren’t showable colors in the Rex world 🥲 (yet).

On to the next stage of life 🥳 out of my house and into the battery brooder inside our feed storage room.

We lost zero turkeys during the brooding process. Bubbles, Ryan’s special needs baby has made a full recovery. Our partner took her half home and we are left with Ryan and Noah’s 4H turkeys and our holiday birds. 🍗🦃

This is happening as Ryan’s duck eggs are pipping in the incubator in my bathroom. 🥴

Help me. 😮‍💨😂

Partysaurus Rex. The real MVP of our rabbitry. He’s fathered countless litters! We’ve held back 3 of his daughters to use as brood stock. This year Noah will be using Party to make offspring for his 4H Rabbit Meat Pen.

Today I passed the state of Idaho’s Artificial Insemination written test after attending an Artificial Insemination class through U of I. Passing the test today means I am officially licensed to A.I. cattle in the state of Idaho (after my application is accepted and my license is in my hot little [GLOVED] hands 🤪).

This was pretty big for me. I’ve been wanting to learn for a while. I had some really awesome people help me accomplish it. I’m pretty proud of myself for doing something so far out of my comfort zone. I got lost on campus a bunch of times, but I didn’t die. 😂

We have a poult that’s struggling. Unfortunately it’s just the reality of farm life (especially rearing turkeys). We think it may have been under the feeder for a short period of time. So far, it’s a fighter though.

We’ve been taking special care of it. Making sure it’s able to get to the food and water. Keeping it from being trampled by the others. Yesterday Ryan decided to take it outside. I asked him why. He’s a boy with a big heart.

His response: Mom, if this baby dies, I want it to know what grass feels like. And how the sun feels against its little body.

Ryan’s taking a turkey to the fair this year. I don’t know if you’ll find another young boy who cares as deeply as he does about his birds. So far the poult is doing better today than yesterday. Maybe it’ll pull through. If it does, it’s probably because of Ryan.

Picked up some feed up north today and happened to check tracking on the turkey poults…. They pinged at the distribution center only 15min away from the feed. So after a couple phone calls- we have our poults a day early! They spent less than 24hrs in the mail system 🥳 so far they’re looking great! Thanks Dunlap Hatchery for updating your system so customers can track birds now 🥰

Lilly Petal is officially a year old. 🥲🥹❤️ We went on a field trip from the time-out pasture back to the heifer pasture today. We stopped and tried every dandelion & then we checked out the meat birds. The meat birds were obviously very fascinating 😆

The sunshine has arrived & we are HERE FOR IT 😍🔥

Anyone else got the FEVAAA? (You know, the way Garth Brooks says it?) Chick Fever that is. 🐣🐥🐣🐥🐣 We officially have our first batch of meat birds for our eager broiler buyers. 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 It’s amazing how fast these little guys go from cute fluff balls to beautifully plump freezer fillers!
