Max has come so far with his scratch board training!
Look at this little guy go πΆ
Did you know that you can use hand targeting as a recall? Max learned this cue as a puppy and has a great association with it. He is able to come away from high value stimulus, including chickens!
If you're struggling with where to begin your training journey, we recommend building a solid recall with your dog.
Meet Max!
Max is a 13 week old Doberman. His main goal through training is to have a solid recall with his Dad. We're making great progress!
If your dog slips through the door or goes through a hole in the fence, how confident are you that they will come when called? Most owners state that their dog will come back 30-50% of the time.
Is this something you'd like to work on with your dog? Give us a call, or send us a message!
As your pup advances through our group classes, we make the exercises a bit more challenging.
Minnie started with us as a puppy and is about to join Intermediate Scouts. She has learned to walk loosely on a leash while leaving a distraction. The distraction is a bag of stinky parmasean cheese π²
We are beyond proud of Minnie and her Mom. These two have a beautiful bond.
Daphe has place on a verbal! π We're so proud of her and her parents.
Happy Mothers Day to all of our Dog moms!
We celebrated in class yesterday with Dog and human cookies π
Michelle recently adopted Roo from East TN Pit Bull Rescue Their bond is beautiful and we're so glad they found The Motivated Mutt.
A question we get asked often is, "Can we include our kids in training"?
Unless we're working with severe reactivity/aggression, the answer is absolutely!
We love watching kids get involved in training. Scout has made so much progress with his tiny human. Instead of knocking him down, he has started auto-sitting and responding to his cues π
Way to go, family!
We are so incredibly proud of @goodgirlsena and her mom! Sena has made SO much progress during her private training sessions. Sena used to bark at everyone and everything. It was to the point where she wouldn't stop unless her Mom took her inside. We've solely been focusing on her reactivity, and life is so much less stressful for her (and her family)
Do you have a reactive dog? We'd love to help give you the tools you need. Reactivity can be stressful, we're here to help.

Does your dog struggle with anxiety, fear, or aggression? Usually the first thought is, training! Anxiety and agression can be managed through training, however having the dogs best interest can mean reccomending a visit with your vet/behaviorist. This can happen prior or during training.
This behaviorist said it perfectly ππ» There is nothing wrong with medicating your dog appropriately. Need recommendations for a vet or behaviorist? Let me know!
