The Cemanis are not content to stay in their pen. Out of 10, I counted 7 the other day. Two were in other pens, while one was just gone.

Looked all over the place for her. Found several black feathers but no chicken and no sign of struggle. Figured she got out and something got her.

As I was topping off the water in the hentagon I noticed a hen cowering beside the tub.

Guess who it was?

Yep, she somehow made it out of her pen, and into The Hentagon which is a good 20 feet away with high netted sides. 🤦‍♀️

So we are back up to 10 again. 🤣

Memorial day chick sale! Almost 50% off regular price.

We have a bunch of babies that just came out of the incubator last night.

Most are Easter/Olive Eggers (from blue and green eggs, but some will be a barnyard mix (Polish bantam and Marans/OE).

There are a few pure Polish Bantams in the lot as well.

Come get you some. They're just three buckaroos a piece this weekend!!!

Last set just went on lockdown!

There are a few in here I couldn't see through but most show to be viable.

Most have wigglers in there, so we should have a BUNCH of chicks ready to go in a few days.

This is the only one that came out this color so far. I believe it's a brahma cochin mix.

Do I need another bantam? No.

Will this one be staying for awhile until it gets big bird feathers? Absolutely!

Also have some in the bunch that are polish/marans crosses. Can't wait to see what they turn out looking like.

We have too many chicks in the brooder and the incubator went on lockdown yesterday, so we need to get some of these guys cleared out. Here's what we have available:

$5 each: 9 straight run wyandotte chicks, 4 weeks old. Both silver and gold laced available.

$5: 1 barred olive egger rooster chick, 4 weeks old.

$5 each: 2 straight run Bantam Cochin mixes, 4 weeks old. Not sure on the other half as we have multiple hens with the Cochin roo. Could be either of the D'uccles, or the Brahma.

$10 each: 3 straight run wyandottes, 2 months old. Both silver and gold laced.

$150 for all 10: Whole flock of Bantam White Crested Black/Blue Polish. 2 roos, 1 hen and 7 unsexed growouts about 3 months old. Polish must all go together.

In Quitaque:

We have way too many chickens out here so some really need to find a new coop. We've decided the Polish group is not going to be one we continue with.

We have a whole flock of Bantam White Crested Black and Blue Polish UFD: 2 adult roos, 1 adult hen and 7 straight run growouts.

Most of the growouts looked to be pullets a couple of weeks ago. Only saw streamers on one at that time, but I do not guarantee that's the actual ratio. They're not laying or crowing yet, so I'm not 100% sure until they do.

The entire flock must go together. Asking $150 for all 10.

Just came in from closing up all the chickens. The storm that just rolled through dropped massive hail on us. Thought we fared alright but we had more damage than I'd originally thought.

Our best Cemani roo didn't make it back into the coop and got caught by baseball sized hail. Found him beat to death just outside their run. 😔💔

The trio has babies!!!

Pearl, Domino, and Millie are all incubating the same 7 eggs in a tiny locker basket I never intended to hold 3 hens. 🤣

I think the orange baby may have stuck to his egg. Got a wee bald spot on his head. It's not bloody or open so I don't think the hens did it.

We have a few laying hens for sale. Most of them look to be Easter Eggers. (The white one is currently unavailable.)

We also have 2 Barred Olive Egger rooster chicks that are a few weeks old now. These guys came from our darkest laying Olive Egger hen (top left egg in the second pic).

We will have more laying hens soon as well.

Just put another 6 dozen eggs in the incubator. Gonna try a dry hatch this time and see if it works any better.

The cemani and polish eggs are quite a bit older than I'd like them to be but I figure if I put them in and they don't do anything at least I tried. Theyll be thrown out regardless, and ya never know, some might hatch. We don't have any fresh Cemani eggs because they completely quit laying last week.

Gonna hatch our darkest greens and reds from the pen with the Polish roos and see how those turn out. They'll be half bantam Polish and half maran or olive. Probably gonna be some UGLY babies!

FYI: the Cemani pen has gone on an UNAPPROVED vacation!

It's been nearly a week since they've given ANY eggs whatsoever, so if you're waiting, I apologize for the delay, and thank you so much for your patience.

I've been reminding them every day that people want their eggs but they don't seem to care. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The quail hen came off the nest to eat. I was wrong about the number of eggs she's got. First guess was about 20. I say 30-40 now that I've seen the whole pile.

She went back to it, so here's hoping she follows through!

We have another girl gone broody, but I never would have put money on this one. I was under the impression they don't do this...

Domino has been sitting on 7 eggs for a week or so now. Last night Pearl decided to join her. The Silkie in the pen next to them is sitting on 2.

The Splash Maran in the Zombie pen is broody too along with a BCM girl in The Hentagon. This is after Mystic & Mamba hatched 2 chicks.

I've been at this for about 4 years now and have never had this many hens go broody at once.
