As we get ready to welcome the new season, we also welcome some autumnal hazards for our furry friends. But, could you spot a poisonous plant before them? 👀

During this time, when the summer blooms turn to autumn leaves, many plants and trees start to produce berries and nuts, which can be both tempting and toxic for pets.

It’s important to be able to recognise those hidden toxic plants so you and your pet can keep away from them ⚠️

Volunteering is to freely give of your time, talents, gifts, and service. Animal Services sees this in action daily in our interactions with those wanting to make a difference in our communities. Yesterday, we were lucky to play a small part in facilitating an improvement in the lives of two dogs in a neighboring area.

Eagle Scouts are required to complete a volunteer project that would benefit the community in order to receive this highest award. Animal Services was the beneficiary of two custom dog houses from one such scout. We reached out to another wonderful charity organization, Dogs Deserve Better - Piedmont NC , whose mission is to help underserved citizens with vet services and better living conditions for their dogs. So, two more volunteers with a truck and trailer met us yesterday to pick up and then deliver these dog houses to their new residents. It's a small thing that makes a huge impact on these dogs and their families. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible and to everyone in our communities who strive to make a difference. Little things add up to big things.

On July 8, we announced an initial reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for zip tying this dog's mouth shut and abandoning him. Peace 4 Animals quickly added another $2,500, and Hollywood producer Marc Gurvitz of Brillstein Entertainment Partners also came forward with an additional $2,500.

The reward has since increased to $25,000, thanks to overwhelming public interest and support. Unfortunately, we still do not have a suspect.

So important people understand what heartworm is, how their dog gets it and most importantly how to protect your dog so he does not get it because if heartworm doesn't kill your dog then sadly sometimes the cure can.

Today DogSnog.com is advocating for this dog. this dog who has over and over again been failed by humans as owners and by humans in positions and jobs that are supposed to look out for the animals in our communities. I'm advocating for those that stepped up for this dog and are working to give him the home he deserves. I'm advocating for the human crud that owned this dog be fined hefty hefty fines to be put towards better animal Care and welfare and support other dogs that are in need of it. I'm advocating for our animal Care and welfare system to be updated, that the laws be stronger and enforced and that people speak up when they see something and that when you vote, you vote for people that care.
So let's save this dog. If all you can do is share to get him out there so he's not killed in a shelter where he does not belong and does not deserve to be - then hit that share button.

😢‼️🚨 BEING EUTHANIZED IF NOT RESCUED!
His family reclaimed him just to starve him and leave him outside in the heat and during storms.😭 His story is breaking our hearts! He is being euthanized because the shelter is full 😭😭😭

A few years ago we impounded him for running loose. The owner came and reclaimed him. Well we got a call about a dog at a house that some people were trying to work on. We get there and it’s this boy. Abandoned by his owners, thrown outside, underweight, and hungry. But still doing his “job” of protecting the house and family. Of course he was fine once we got him. Super easy going and quiet boy. Pretty sad story and really crappy of the owners.
