We are grateful that CBS17 and WRAL picked up the story and did interviews and shared it on their platforms. Because of the support we do have a person of interest and they are being investigated. 🥵🥵🥵 ITS HEATING UP OUT THERE!!!!!!

This weekend temps will be 98 and 99 with a real feel of 103 and 105!!!!!!!!

Be sure to check on the flock! Here are a few simple things you can do to beat the heat:

— Wading pools! 2 inches or less of water! Helps cool their body through their feet.

- Promote air circulation within the coop and run

- Cut up some fresh watermelon! They will go nuts for it! You can also add electrolytes to their water!!!

- SHADE!! Might seem simply but make sure they have plenty of it!

- PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE CHICKENS CLOSED IN THE COOP DURING THIS TYPE OF HEAT!!!!!! They will essentially cook if the coop is not equipped with some sort of AC unit and proper air ventilation.

Yesterday we posted on here about the poor roo that was dumped and in a bag with his legs tied together. We have video footage of the individual but unfortunately aren’t able to get a full license plate. So if anyone recognizes her or the car PLEASE call us or message us! You will remain anonymous. You may also call the Raleigh animal control and share the information with them if you feel more comfortable doing so. Newer model Honda odyssey. Picture of the van in comments. PLEASE READ!!!!!!!

DO NOT DUMP ANY BIRDS AT THE URBAN CHICKEN!!!!! We have cameras. The police are now involved and will be looking into the individual who left this sweet boy in a bag hobbled out front of our door. Between Andrew and I we do our best to help those out who need to rehome chickens and especially roosters. Please call us and ask to speak to either one of us and we will do our best to help you out with your situation. Thankfully we were in the back of the store still and came up front and saw the bag wiggling around. This sweet boy will have a forever home where he won’t be hobbled on my farm. But please reach out to us if you’re in need of assistance but please DO NOT dump animals!

Vendors you’re more than welcome to bring canopies to have shade for your animals! We encourage you to bring a long waterers for them as well! Just come inside and ask to be pointed in the direction of the sink!

The urban chicken will also have refreshments available for purchase as well for the humans!
