**Big News** Please welcome our newest veterinarian, Dr. Isabel Brumleve! Dr. Isabel Brumleve was born and raised in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a summer community known as the Les Cheneaux Islands. Less than 20 miles from Mackinac Island, she fondly remembers many summer trips to Mackinac where her horse obsession was sparked by the hundreds of horses that serve as the preferred mode of transportation on the Island. Isabel began taking riding lessons at a young age, which turned into buying an off-the-track-thoroughbred when she was twelve that helped her develop as a better rider and in-turn their partnership took them into the hunter rings throughout Michigan where enjoying many years of showing.
Isabel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University (2019) before working as a technician for 2 years at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky and then Wellington, Florida. Isabel then returned to Michigan State, where she received a DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine (2024) and was awarded the Kelly Smith Memorial Award, which is given to the student that embodies a love of the horse and commitment to the equine veterinary profession. She is a current member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).
Isabel’s professional interests include ophthalmology, sports medicine, and client education around general horse health. Outside of work, Isabel enjoys spending time in the North Woods on Lake Huron with her family, hiking with her husband and their two bird dogs, Lottie and Judge, trail running, horseback riding and throwing a great dinner party.
