Sweet Maple
Sweet Maple just arrived from our friends at Lake County Animal Care and Control and she is truly just as sweet as her name. She was found as as stray, covered in bite wounds and very skinny. Upon arrival, she wiggled her way into our arms (and hearts). We don't know her past, but we know she has such a bright future now that she's with us. She's heading over to our vet partners today for the care she needs. We can't wait for her to feel 100%! Stay tuned for updates on this gal!
BIG thank you to everyone who reached out to help the Mom and puppies we recently pulled from Chicago Animal Care and Control! They arrived at Orphans of the Storm earlier today and already had fosters lined up! We are happy to share that as of 1:30pm today, all the puppies left for foster (see the photo in the comments section for Tweetie's car ride outta' here), and Mom will leave on Friday!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We can't do this life-saving work without your support! Stay tuned--- the puppies should be available for adoption this weekend!

This year, we have taken in over 1400 homeless pets. We value our partnerships with local shelters like Waukegan Police Animal Control because working together is vital in helping solve the pet homeless crisis. That’s why when our friends there shared Rhino’s story, we knew we had to help.
11-year-old Rhino tragically lost his home and family. As soon as we heard, our Manager reached out to their team that day and coordinated transport. Once he arrived at Orphans of the Storm we instantly fell in love! He headed over to our partner vet where he received initial bloodwork and an exam to make sure it was safe to put him under anesthesia. Thankfully, the results all came back within normal limits! Rhino still needs the mass on his leg removed, a biopsy, and a dental with extractions, totaling upwards of $2,000, but it’s thanks to contributions like yours we can make this happen for Rhino. We are grateful you are a part of this team, because without your time and financial support, we couldn’t help so many pets like Rhino. Rhino will be available for adoption soon and we can’t wait to find him his new home!

Thank you for your unwavering support!
Your contributions on this Giving Tuesday (and every day!) help us provide medical care for dogs like Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell came in from our friends at Lake County Animal Care and Control after her owner passed away unexpectedly. After arriving at Orphans of the Storm, it became clear that she struggled to walk, was uncomfortable, and possibly in pain. She saw our partner, Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Miz at Animal Medical Center as soon as possible. She was diagnosed with luxating patellas and needed MPL surgery on both knees. The average cost for this surgery is $1,000-$3,000… per knee. We of course said YES to helping her and immediately got her the care she needed. She is all healed up and thriving in her forever home and we couldn’t be happier!
Tinkerbell’s family said, “she has grown to get comfortable in our household just as she has been growing in our hearts. We strive to make her as comfortable as possible as well as making sure all her needs are met. She is curious and cautious, and a giant cuddle bug. We are thankful for the opportunity to adopt such a sweet girl.”
Your contributions make such an impact and allow us to say YES to so many pets like Tinkerbell. If you can donate today, please head to our website at https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/orphans-of-the-storm-animal-shelter/giving-tuesday-2024 , or, you can donate directly in this post!
Happy Giving Tuesday!
Happy Giving Tuesday! ❤️💙🎉
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in making a difference for pets in need. As part of a global day of generosity, your support helps us continue our vital work across over 15 local municipalities, allowing us to provide them with essential services, such as holding and stray intake and critical community support. Your contributions today and every day also allow us to support multiple, local animal care and controls like Lake County Animal Care and Control, Waukegan Police Animal Control and Chicago Animal Care and Control (plus many others) amounting to over 85% of our yearly intake. With your help, we can create a safer, more compassionate environment for animals, giving them a second chance at life and the forever homes they've been waiting for.
Every gift, no matter the size, plays a key role in making a real impact. This Giving Tuesday, your generosity can help us give hope to animals and the communities that care for them. Thank you for your continued support!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
We are so incredibly grateful for your continued support. We truly cannot do this without each and every one of you. It’s because of you all that we are able to continue our mission: caring for and finding pets the loving homes they deserve.
The pups (and kitties!), enjoyed a special Thanksgiving meal this morning. Thank you to the volunteers who came out this morning to make this possible!
When the humans have just as much fun in playgroup as the dogs do! :D
It's so great seeing dogs open up in playgroups, and adoptable Clifford (the tan dog) is always excited to be a part of it! This sweet, fun-loving boy lost his home of 2 1/2 years due to no fault of his own. His previous family adored him and were heartbroken by the situation. Clifford is crate-trained and housebroken, and his previous family said he did well with children, too!
Come meet him and you’ll for sure be smiling! For more information on Clifford, head to bit.ly/OOTSClifford!
