Hello! I was just made aware of a post on Good Bye Stinky Paws as I cannot see it. I did not and will not ever wish them ill will. My post was sincere and direct addressing current circumstances while never once bashing them. I hope that the salon will continue to be success that it was with or without Lori and I. The pups need us all! No need to comment. Carry on…🤞🏻❤️🐾

Dear loyal friends and clients,

I’m taking a moment to address the absence of Lori and I from our beloved salon. I am caring for my sweet husband on hospice while Lori has been removed from the schedule due to staffing decisions by the new owners. Despite rumors, we did not quit or abandon our grooming services of caring for your incredible pets. Currently, we are carefully and thoughtfully considering all options to make the best possible decision that will allow us to continue providing top-notch service in a way that aligns with current circumstances. Embracing change can lead towards transformation - although things may look different moving forward. Thank you for your support and continuing to believe in us.

🤞🏻♥️🐾 Karina and Lori

Hello Friends! Please consider supporting a brand new local business in Rockaway. Tommy and Kevin had a dream of opening their own dog grooming salon and are very excited to take care of all your grooming needs. They took over where Pawfection and K-9 CUTS was. Please give them a chance as they love pups as much as I do.

So I thought I would update everyone on Steven Dickinson.

After 2 weeks in the hospital we brought him home Thursday on hospice care. In as much as we prayed and hoped for a miracle his body had other plans. He can no longer stand or walk. He cannot urinate on his own. He stopped eating and with his GI bleed he deteriorated quite quickly. He is home and comfortable and spends most of his time sleeping. Thank you to everyone who supported our family either through meals, prayers, texts, calls, donations and just overall love and concern for all of us. We are forever grateful for each and every one of you.

With much love and appreciation ,

The Dickinson Family 🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻

It is with gratitude and love that my family and I thank everyone for their love, prayers, cards, texts, calls, FB posts and support during this difficult time. While no one can mentally, emotionally, physically and financially prepare for a catastrophic illness of a loved one, the support of others helps greatly 💕 I am going to try and return to work this week. Unfortunately after 30 years I no longer have the flexibility to accommodate everyone’s schedules and days due to the care and support that my husband now needs. As we move forward in the coming months my schedule will fluctuate around his doctor appointments and treatments. He will need full time care and my family has to accommodate this first and foremost. I will do my best as I love every pup I groom but I wanted to make everyone aware and I thank you in advance for your support. ❤️🙏🏻💗

Day 7 My love ❤️ was officially busted out of the hospital and moved to a rehabilitation facility. Now comes the time of healing and recovering. Steve does not have his cell but we can relay any messages to him. We are so grateful to his Neurosurgeon Dr Moshel, the Neuro medical unit (especially Beth) and the staff at Morristown Medical Center for their care and compassion not only for Steven but for our family as well. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support 💕🙏🏻

Our family would like to thank everyone who prayed, texted and called today to inquire about Steve’s surgery. We definitely felt the love and support from so many people today 🙏🏻💕. It was a very emotional day for us. What we do know is that Steve’s surgery went well. They do believe they got it all. While we still have many questions we do know he still needs prayers as he does have a long road ahead of him. Thank you so much to all of you 💕❤️🙏🏻

Wow…where to start…2 words….just 2 little words can turn your world inside out. Our words….Brain Tumor. Wednesday night we got the devastating news that the love of my life was diagnosed with a brain tumor 💔 To say we were shocked is an understatement. While still at the very beginning of his journey with so many unanswered questions we ask for prayers, love, support, privacy and patience as we navigate this. On behalf of Steve and our family we would like to thank our family, friends, clients, employers and coworkers who have reached out and been so supportive as we try to figure all of this out. Please know your concern, prayers and offers of help are deeply appreciated.

For my clients please be aware that I will be out for a little bit to care for my husband and family. Please support Nicole and Lori at K-9 Cuts as they try to accommodate as many of you as possible. I will be back even if it’s on a modified schedule.

ADOPTED

Pure of heart with all the happy feels best describes loving, precious Chestnut. This sweet boy only has the best intentions for everyone, including other dogs. A forever Toys-R-Us kid, he's been known to return to his kennel to fetch a toy to bring along. His enthusiasm is remarkable! Greets with a friendly, wiggly posture each time approached. Only positive vibes apply! Wanting nothing but love, playtime, interaction and connection. Rated level 3 for his excitement of leash tugging and love of toys. Chestnut readily approaches, leans in with a soft body, this defines a loving heart and a forever friend. Sadly the shelter doesn't value this amazing treasure and has set his death date. Now we search for a foster or adopter to save this adorable boy's life. They should all be this jubilant! If you are able to step up for Chestnut; please message us now. Time is closing in on him.

Summary (7):: 7/12/23: Chestnut is at the front barking and pacing back and forth. He take treats given to him through the kennel bars. He makes one brief attempt to bite the leash while leashing but is easily distract and leashed with treats. He pulls hard to the street and pants excessively throughout the walk. He is easily returned to kennel.

7/11/23: Chestnut is reported to be biting the leash. When a staff member was attempting to leash him, he ripped their gown grabbing it as he was grabbing for the leash and they were unable to get him out. When handler approaches the kennel, Chestnut has a loose body. He is fed spray cheese while being leashed and this avoids leash biting. He is then taken out of the kennel and walked to the street. Chestnut is quick to relieve himself and does not react to dogs or other stimuli he passes. When called over, he has a loose, wiggly body and he leans in when pet. He is brought back to the kennel and returned without issue.

He becomes frustrated after some time and begins to screech and vocalize while muzzle punching the fence. Handler grabs the drag leash and pulls him away from the fence. Chestnut begins to lunge and
6/10/23: Chestnut is at the front of the kennel loose and wiggly when approached. He is easily leashed and taken out of kennel. In the hallway, he barks at a male handler walking in his general direction. He is held away and taken outside for a street walk where he pulls hard and does not react to dogs or other stimuli. He is then returned to kennel where some pressure is applied to the leash to get him in

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Chestnut so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: Level 3

Recommendations:: No children (under 13)

Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to exuberance and potential resource guarding observed at the care center, we recommend a home without children.

Potential challenges: :
On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration,
Basic manners/poor impulse control,
Resource guarding,
Leash-biting

Potential challenges comments::
Resource guarding: Chestnut has been observed to become tense when the toy he was in possession of was touched during his assessment. Please see handout on Resource Guarding.

Basic manners: Chestnut jumps up in a social manner. See handout on Basic Manners.

On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration: Chestnut has been observed to bark at people when walking in the hallway of the building, having a loose body when he does this. He has also been observed to whine and pull towards dogs when passing them. Please see handout on On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration.

Leash biting: Chestnut may jump up and play tug with his leash. See handout on Leash Manners.

Chestnut is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. He is a social and playful dog who has displayed challenges with high levels of leash biting in our care, causing concern for an accidental bite risk. Medically, he is recovering from CIRDC.

Chestnut arrived to MACC as a stray with no known history. While in our care he has shown to be a social, playful, and energetic young dog. He may even bark when excited to meet new humans who approach! Chestnut prefers to keep his toys to himself and may be most comfortable enjoying them in his own space.

Since his arrival, Chestnut has displayed high exuberance and leash biting, playfully tugging on his leash which has caused concern for accidentally grabbing hands. He may best benefit from leaving the shelter environment and being placed into a home where he can have appropriate outlets for his energy and exuberance.

Please check here for updated adoption hours.

PLACED WITH RESCUE

Euth command given for 9 month old sweetheart Bubbles !

9 months old, her owner said, and already on death row, facing her end. The ACC has decided that today will be her last day and she needs to leave the shelter. This is pretty baby, Bubbles with a personality to match her name. This little girl arrived at the ACC, trusting and sweet, never complaining, even if she got sick at the ACC. She was so trusting that she allowed herself to be carried by strangers to her crate.

Her owners moved to a no pets place and the new toy of a few months became an inconvenience. They said they have no time for her too. It is unbelievable how callous some people can be, to them a pet is just a toy, a thing that can be destroyed when it’s no longer wanted.

Bubbles has been easy to manage at the ACC, except recently she has began to kennel fight. Several dogs that got out recently had kennel fighting in their notes as well, so we are assuming that dogs do it out of frustration at their situation, being cooped up all day, when they had lived in a house before and able to move freely. These dogs need our compassion, understanding.

Please send prayers for Bubbles’ safety, advocate for her, and get her seen, as it’s the only way she would get saved. If you can’t foster, adopt or pledge, there’s one thing you can do right on your phone or your laptop, and it doesn’t take much. Please do it to help Bubbles. She doesn’t deserve to die in this ghastly place.
