Blind dogs can go blind for a number of reasons, including genetics, injuries, old age, and diseases like glaucoma. They are known for their ability to adapt and navigate their surroundings using their other senses, such as their whiskers, spatial awareness, acute hearing, and sense of smell. They can also develop a kind of "sixth sense" and form deep connections with other pets and humans, proving that limitations can be stepping stones to a richer life.

NATIONAL BLACK CAT APPRECIATION DAY 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛
National Black Cat Appreciation Day is celebrated on August 17th every year. The day's goals include:
Dispelling myths
Black cats have been given a bad reputation by old ideas, and the day aims to help people see that they are just as adorable as other cats.
Sharing the joys of living with black cats
Black cats are known for being affectionate and beautiful, and some say they even bring good luck.
Helping black cats get adopted.
The day encourages people to give a home to black cats that are waiting at animal shelters.

NATIONAL CLEAR THE SHELTERS MONTH
BEGINS
The Clear the Shelters campaign started as a collaboration between animal shelters, rescue organizations, and media outlets to match loving families with pets in need while addressing pet overpopulation and promoting responsible pet ownership.

INTERNATIONAL HOMELESS ANIMAL DAY
International Homeless Animals Day falls on every third Saturday in August, which will be August 17 this year, and is honored with events and increasing participation every year.
