This situation is pretty dire. This kitty slipped out 7 days ago around East 2nd Street in Russellville and has not returned. She looks black in the photo, but she is a dark colored tortoiseshell. He owners are both disabled and are in wheelchairs, so they have not been able to get out and search for her. This kitty needs found before the bad weather hits. If you live in this area, please keep an eye out. My number is 479-858-1078 if you see her.

Today was a whirlwind in rescue... I got some straw picked up thanks to Amanda Adams and it will be available tomorrow when I get back home. You will need to bring a big black garbage bag when you come to pick some up at my apartment.

The past few days have been overwhelming in rescue. We need fosters for 11 pups that were born out in the elements. We like to split them up in sets of two, but we are desperate. Today was an absolutely wonderful day! We had so many sweet kitties find their furever homes and my heart is happy! I even had a couple that have adopted 5 kitties from me before that live in Oklahoma drive down and adopt a beautiful dilute calico. A 3 hour drive to adopt one of my kitties!!! Didn't get all the photos because it was hectic at times as always!

Another unexpected expense yesterday when a feral cat was caught at a business here in Russellville. It had to be fixed, so this one was a $70 out of pocket expense. Only the 4th day of January and basically the whole month left and my pockets are empty. Everybody wants help, but nobody seems to realize that if I dont have adoption funds on hand to pay the vet bills, it comes out of my pocket and I am just not in the position to do it since I have personal bills to pay now that I have an apartment. Last year from November up until September I did rescue on my own basically without any help or resources because I wasn't with a rescue. I fixed cats and found them homes by pretty much giving them away because there is very limited help available in this area. Kim and I drove cats all over the State of Arkansas to other rescues and to their adopters and I was just greatful to find help for them, so I know how valuable my help is to people from being on the other side of rescue! This is the 4th cat that was caught and fixed from this business and it has cost $277.50, not taking into account the cost of gas running back and forth to Clarksville and Morrilton to the vet, and there is still one more kitten there to be caught and fixed. I had to cancil my appointment yesterday last minute and it took an hour and a half of my time because not only did it became my financial obligation, but it was also me that had to step and fetch to pick it up and get it to Dr. Parker to be fixed. I had bought gas yesterday and my car had a full tank of gas, but by the time I got back in my driveway, I had used a quarter of a tank of gas! I cannot and will not continue paying to fix community problems with my personal money. Stray cats are the communities problem and for far to long people just look at it as the animal shelter and rescues problem. Every single person that I know that does rescue is becomming more and more fed up and I have seen so many shut their doors. Times are hard, believe me I know this all to well and I am going to have to do things differently this year. There are low cost options to spay and neuter your pets available to EVERYONE. If you get a pet, you are responsible for getting that pet fixed and vaccinated just like you are responsible for feeding it and providing it shelter. If you got a pet for Christmas, you should have already had a plan in place to get it fixed before you even got it so when you contact me about your kitty accidently getting pregnant, I'm going to tell you accidents have consequences. I paid a $140 traffic ticket yesterday from the accident I had a few weeks ago where I ran into a vehicle, that was an expensive consequence on my part for the accident. My car is parked and I'm having to use my husband's because I only had liability insurance and I can't afford to fix it, another consequence for the accident that was my fault! I woke up this morning thinking about how people will just take and take if you let them and I just can't allow it anymore. To those that take care of your pets and those that step up time and time again to help take care of the problems others have created, I thank you and I wish there were millions more just like you! I often wish I had never even started doing rescue, my life was easy and carefree...

Sadly my fears for this guy were on point and he has feline leukemia..With his age and condition, the best thing to do is euthanize him. Feline leukemia is often found where there are an abundance of cats reproducing and it spreads like WILDFIRE! Sadly there are numerous kitties in this apartment complex that are just roaming around and surviving hand to mouth. These cats need fixed in order to stop more kittens from being born into sickness. I'm reaching out in hopes that I can get enough donations to start fixing these cats now before kitten season hits in full swing. If you can donate please I beg you to do so. My cash app is below. I know I will have many people saying it isn't going to fix the problem and it won't fix the problem for those already exposed or that have gotten Leukemia, but it will stop the cycle of helpless kittens being born into it and sometimes that is the only thing that can be done. Leukemia is a horrible illness, especially in the end stages, but it can be prevented with a simple vaccine and a booster a few weeks following the initial shot. A yearly vaccine is required thereafter. If you have cats that go outdoors, please vaccinate your kitty because you never know what is going on with other cats in your area! Better yet, keep your kitty indoors where it is safe from all the unknowns...
