Social level: Good with other dogs but not overly interested. He will play often but also show independence while exploring.
Skills: Bear has completed our board and train program in which he was taught Recall, Sit, Down, Place, Kennel up and Good Leash Manners.

Our Thoughts: Bear is a VERY happy dog. He loves affection and in typical Labrador fashion he loses control of his body when he is loved on. Bear’s favorite thing in the whole world is a ball and has a very HIGH play drive when playing fetch. Bear loves to play with other dogs in short burst sessions but mostly likes to explore, smell and look for ball shaped items. During Bear’s 3 week board and train he often went into public spaces like Lowes, Home Depot and Pet stores and did very well.

We can’t emphasize it enough.

The relationship you have with your dog will determine the outcome of the training you implement. Respect and trust are the byproducts of healthy fulfilling engagement (think play) as well as upholding boundaries through structure (think leadership).

If you ONLY shower your dog with play and affection you will be seen more as a litter mate. If you ONLY rule like a dictator you will have a contrived obedience rather than a willing desire to please.

There must be a balance between affection, praise and fun with a firm, consistent leadership.

I’ve got to brag on this young man! It’s not easy to train your dog…it takes a lot of patience, consistency and attention to detail. Things that are not easily mastered when you are young. Gabe with the help of his mother have done a GREAT job working with Blue and getting him to this point. I’m very proud of them all!
