I use only positive reinforcement to increase the bond you will have with your dog and have lasting good manners. I specialize in obedience for all dogs. I have found that video sessions are getting much better results than in person sessions. You get all the same one-on-one coaching and usually more time. Since I specialize in puppy training I prefer to work with 8 week to 1 1/2 year old dogs.

A Woman Is Teaching Her Dog To Speak & It Appears To Actually Be Working

We've all spent hours watching YouTube videos of dogs sounding like they're speaking. But one dog is actually learning to talk like a human, thanks to her patient owner. Stella, an 18-month-old Catahoula/Blue Heeler mix, is learning how to use an…

Understanding Hyperawareness: What Happened When I Showered with a Spider

Today I took a shower with a spider. It wasn't like I volunteered for this; I hopped in and was well along in the process of getting clean before I saw it in the shower pan. And this wasn't a tiny spider – it was a big one. I'd' say 3″ around or so.Ok. Maybe it was closer to 1″, including the l...

The Academy for Dog Trainers

Often dogs get labelled things like stubborn because we expect that they "know" what we want and so, should do it immediately.

But what if she doesn't really know? What if we slowed down a bit and embraced the idea that sometimes dogs may be processing information and trying to determine the best response?

Slowing down and giving a dog time to think can provide us with more opportunity to reward the correct response, rather than jumping in prepared to punish - and one of the benefits of this is that if we are timely in our reward delivery, response time will improve and we'll begin to see more of what we want and with more enthusiasm.

Plan ahead to socialize your puppy early! - Whole Dog Journal

This is SO important and unfortunately way too many Vets still tell their patients to keep their puppy inside until all shots are given!!

WRONG!!!! If you do this you miss out on truly socializing your puppy correctly.

Recently, I witnessed an older couple struggling to carry a crate into a puppy kindergarten class. Once inside, they opened the crate and a large and beautiful Poodle puppy emerged – a pup who was not particularly young, nor disabled in any way. When asked about the puppy and why they carried her ...

HI Everyone,
I am a local Certified Dog Trainer and one of my clients must re-home one of their dogs. She is still puppy like and their older resident dog just can't handle she and the cats are terrified of her. I did 3 weeks of in-home training with her and she is an incredible smart dog as well as very lovable....one of my favorite dogs. I am willing to do 1 in-home training session to show you everything she knows and to help you with her.

Here is the write up her current owner did on her:

"1 year old Maggie is the sweetest young dog and we love her so much. She cuddles and kisses and wants all your affection. Sadly, our other dog and 2 cats are all senior animals, and Maggie’s youthful spirit is not enjoyed by them. The cats want nothing to do with her, and we have yet to be able to integrate her fully into our family.
She came to us in March when a friend in San Francisco found her on the street, where she had been dumped 6 weeks earlier. A homeless woman found her and had been nursing her back to health, but could not care for her long term and was living in a tent at the Recology recycling center. We wanted another dog, but we were not prepared for our other animals’ health to start deteriorating at the same time.
We have put in an incredible amount of time and work with Maggie, including 2 different dog trainers who are on call indefinitely for her. She knows all the basic commands, is crate trained and is 95% potty trained (which she was NOT at all when we got her) and can ring a dog doorbell when she needs to go out.
She is mellow and cuddly indoors, and very energetic outdoors and wants to play with other dogs. Our older dog has hip dysplasia and an arthritic knee and has little interest in playing with her. She currently goes to a day care program at the Pet Inn on Freeport Blvd a few days a week where she can play with other dogs. She does well in dog parks and can play with pretty much any dog, as long as they are willing to play back.
She would make a great addition to a house with another energetic, playful dog or to a family who can spend time with her. She is not a dog you can leave in a backyard all day—she needs human contact or another dog as company.
She has proven to be very trainable, but still has her puppyhood and can have impulse control issues when it comes to new things.
We have a soft crate and metal crate for her, 3 beds, a Kong cloud, multiple bones, a tight seal container of her current food (Merrick kibble), a sun shirt and sunscreen (she gets a sunburn since she is a white dog with short hair), multiple harnesses, collars and leashes, as well as the medication she takes for her skin allergy (something she has only presented in the heat). This stuff is all free to the family who adopts her from us.
She has been seen by 2 different local vets in the past 4 months (Land Park Vet, and Broadway Pet Hospital) and is fully vaccinated and spayed. She is microchipped and licensed with the City of Sacramento.
We are fostering her until she finds an ideal home with folks who can give her the attention and love she needs.
If Maggie sounds like a good fit for your home, please contact me so we can arrange a meet & greet to see if she is right for you. "

Please let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with her current owner.

Thank You

Our Story

I am one of the few Certified Positive Force-Free Dog Trainers in Sacramento. I use ALL positive reinforcement that will enhance the bond with your dog and create lasting good behaviors.

Right now I am offering Private sessions, Group sessions and a Day Training Package. I specialize in obedience for all dogs and puppy training. Day Training is where I do all the tedious repetitious work that the owners are suppose to do after they take a class. I come into your home 3 times a week to train the dog then at the end of each week I do a transfer session to teach the owners what we worked on. This is done over 3 weeks. The owner gets their time freed up from training, the trainer knows the dog is trained, and the dog well mannered!!! It's a win-win-win!!
