Anyone looking for a beautiful cat? How about this calico that has been abandoned at a small farm in southern MN? A client of ours goes there regularly to feed her and has been since spring. A friend of our client inherited this farm with this beautiful gal and unfortunately no one lives at this farm house.
She is about 1 to 2 years old and was a little reticent at first, however, she has become very friendly and sweet. Our client will sit on the ground and she will come running and sit in her lap. Rescues have been contacted, but unfortunately, they are full. Its also unfortunate, her dog chases the kitty, so she is unable to take her home. Please contact Oak Knoll & ask for Kari and I will forward you information to reach out to our client, if you are interested. She will be transported for you.

We'd like to welcome Dr. Meghan Riley to the Oak Knoll Team! She has been here a few months and is fitting in perfectly with our team and our culture! We could not be happier to have her here!

Dr. Riley went to undergrad at Grinnell College in Iowa. She then received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota. One of the aspects Dr. Riley loves most about being a vet is being able to make connections with clients and their pets to promote long-term health and the human-animal bond. She really enjoys surgery, nutrition, and urgent care! In her free time, she enjoys traveling, road cycling, and watching reality tv with her partner Gabriel and her two cats, Donkey and Moose. As to what Dr. Riley likes the most about working at Oak Knoll is: ‘The team at Oak Knoll is incredibly caring and committed to helping pets and their families which I am so happy to be a part of.’

Summer heat can be extremely dangerous for pets, potentially leading to heatstroke. To protect your furry friends, ensure they have plenty of water and shade, and avoid vigorous exercise during peak heat hours. Never leave pets in cars, and if you suspect heatstroke, contact your vet immediately.

Each year, thousands of pets suffer from heatstroke, with an estimated 50% not surviving the condition. Between 1,800 and 2,000 dogs die annually from car-related heatstroke. A study from San Francisco State University found that when it's 80 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can reach 99 degrees in just 10 minutes and 109 degrees in 20 minutes. Since dogs don't have efficient ways to cool themselves, they can succumb to heatstroke in less than 15 minutes.

Stay vigilant during the hot summer months to keep your pets safe.
