UPDATE: Tilly is being sedated for deobstipation currently! Unfortunately her stool blockage is severe and she isn’t able to urinate on her own. While she’s on medication for her constipation it doesn’t seem to be working right now. There is a lot of risk involved in this procedure as her bladder is large as is her colon. Please send good thoughts her way and keep donating/sharing if you can! She needs this procedure to live ❤️

Tilly Emergency!!! Her foster called last night saying that her belly felt very hard (she’s been having constipation issues since starting GS injections for her FIP). When going to check on her her belly is EXTREMELY hard and she’s obstipated. This is a continued issue from her broken pelvis caused by previous abuse before we took her in. She will need emergency care to get this cleared asap as she is unable to defecate at this time. She has just been dropped off at Plummer Pet Hospital right now! The total for deobstipation is usually $600-$1000. Please help miss Tilly! She is not feeling her best right now and if we can’t get this stool out she could have a lot more issues… We will be completely honest we do NOT have the funds to cover this bill right now as one of our board members has been very sick these past weeks and we haven’t been fundraising as we should… But Tilly doesn’t leave us a choice so please donate and share if you can! Any and all donations help ❤️. We need to raise this amount by end of day… Please share for sweet Tilly! She has been through enough in her short life.

You can call Plummer Pet Hospital directly to donate at 727-317-2706 for Tilly under Happy Tailz Cat Rescue OR use any of the below links.

We haven’t introduced one of our new intakes yet… But meet Yahtzee. One year ago yesterday we had a memory of Coral come up. This was one of our most memorable hospice cases and we do not regret any of our decisions with her… So when we saw this girl show up at the same shelter we pulled Coral from… Well, the rest is now history. Yahtzee has had a biopsy taken, is on a new medication regimen and once the biopsy comes back as what we are expecting, we will visit our favorite oncologist at Tampa Bay Vet Specialists! Yahtzee also has a feeding tube in place so we can be sure she gets adequate nutrition to fight this beast she is facing, but also to be comfortable. Having a feeding tube allows a “no fuss”, as we call it, way to give medications to keep her happy. Hospice cats NEED to be comfortable. If they can’t be then they need to cross the rainbow bridge, but thankfully we can be sure Yahtzee gets nutrition and medication during this time! We will provide EVERYTHING this sweet girl needs, but right now we are most in need of feeding tube food. We have 4 cats currently tube fed, BG, Blanche, Paige (we will introduce her soon but she is the female BG), and now Yahtzee. Each cat eats minimum 2 cans a day and for a case of 24 it is $82… that means one case only lasts 3 days… Then to top it off we also need continued vet care and specialty appointments. The best way to help us is either donations for the cost of food, or Chewy Gift Cards! Would anyone be willing to send our babies some gift cards for prescription food?? Any amount is helpful! Even if it isn’t for a full case, all donations add up ❤️

Thank you to Plummer Pet Hospital for replacing BG’s feeding tube today!! We are so grateful to have a vet that will readily fit our babies in the day after a holiday. He just had his first REAL and full feeding in 48 hours and our hearts are full ❤️❤️. However, we feel like we failed BG. We tried all the ERs and when we thought we found one and went there they changed their mind when the saw him despite him being exactly as we described… We know when to quit and when to keep pushing, but in BGs case that line is very thin. But we know we are doing the right thing because BG continues to make mental strides and maintain weight, so for now we are status quo. Look at both his little eyes open… He is fighting. Both eyes being open may not seem like much but we are happy with small improvements! This year is going to be so much better for BG, we know it will ❤️. Tomorrow with all his meds and feedings on board BG is going to be a new man, we know it!

Tilly is checking in with some fun news! First off, she is doing amazing on her treatment for FIP. Hit really baffles us what this 7 month old kitten has been through. She initially came to us after suffering severe abuse at the hands of her owner. She was found outside by a school with a ruptured ear drum, broken pelvis, tail damaged and broken off, and severe and extensive necrotic wounds over a large part of her body. She was taken to the same shelter that adopted her out. Thankfully a plea was put out for help and we were able to take Tilly in! Her care took a lot of time daily, but eventually after a wound culture, twice daily baths to remove necrotic tissue, appropriate antibiotics, and finally a wound closure, Tilly was officially healed! However, not long after she was adopted her belly swelled and she received a diagnosis of FIP… While FIP used to be 100% fatal, thankfully it no longer has to be so! She started treatment the next day and has been a trooper ever since. She did need some of the fluid drained from her belly due to the fact she previously had a broken pelvis and does have a weak back leg from that injury. She couldn’t even lift herself up… Only a small bit was drained to give her relief as anymore could cause shock and sadly, death. But she is now a playful kitten again with no abdominal fluid to be seen! Right now we really need help with Tilly’s treatment cost. We just ordered 7 more vials of her medication and it’s not exactly cheap! We’ve created a Tilly T-Shirt not just to raise money for her but to also raise awareness for FIP and the available treatment for it. Please consider donating towards Tilly’s ongoing medical bills! She goes back to the vet this week. Her fundraiser is below as well and there is a photo of the shirts in comments ❤️

The New Year 2024 began with cats, as musician John Mayer appeared at a Tokyo cat café called "Bar Cats in the Box." He was seated at the bar surrounded by kitties, an amewsing way to start the year on the right paw! (see video below) Mayer appeared on screen with hosts Anderson Cooper

Sakura is doing amazing!! She would like to know if anyone can help us out by sending supplies to the rescue? We only have two bags of adult food left and as you know most of our fosters are adults. This only will last us 2 days for the rescue and foster humans 😱. We have 3 bags of kitten food left as well but that lasts longer. Food and litter is our most needed supplies. Number 1)adult dry food (preferred Iams Healthy Adult, but also added Friskies), 2)cat litter (clumping), 3)kitten dry food, 4)adult and kitten wet food. Please consider sending some needed supplies if you can! https://www.chewy.com/g/happy-tailz-cat-rescue-inc_b81608775

Our sweet Bilateral Rear Leg Amputee is starting to come around. She’s sweet and sour, but we don’t blame her! Sweaters seem to make her happy and so we’ve taken to giving her a new sweater daily ❤️. She has a few staples in one of her incisions left and she’s on oral antibiotics for another 24 days then we can start her rehab! She cultured some nasty bacteria so Sakura is now on Rifampin, SMZ, Chloramphenicol, and Convenia. She also gets Gabapentin daily. Her medications alone were over $100 (on top of two surgeries which was $3,800 total) so any supply help would be welcome 😅😅.

Sakura wants to be the first to share our GivingTuesday fundraiser with our ! She is doing great and she saw the vet again today to just make sure her incisions are looking good, and they do. We discussed her "lady" (p**p) troubles today and came up with a good wrapping idea. She's one lady issue in and it sure did the trick 😅. She just ate her second breakfast and then a lunch of wet food which is rare for her... She's not a wet food fan so that's cool! We also removed her drain yesterday morning and she's super excited about that. Alternative ways to donate that are immediately available for kitties like Sakura who need continual vet care are also listed. We are a 501c3 non-profit and all donations are tax deductible!

IGOR UPDATE from Happy Tailz Cat Rescue, Inc ❤️‍🩹

He came in with severe eye bulging and nasal bridge swelling, copious discharge from his nose and a hole beside his left eye, and was extremely thin.

At 10 years old he was dying... Currently, after cultures, medication, and care, he is doing okay and we've adjusted some of his medication after his culture and fungal reports. As you can see his bulging eye is much better as is his swollen nasal bridge, but we've been dealing with a few issues along the way...

Diarrhea and bloody nose to just name two. Despite this Igor is in good spirits and is eating and drinking well. He is the sweetest dude! ... However, he's still far more skinny than we would like...

He has a VERY long road ahead and we may need even more testing... Right now Igor is in most need of monetary donations for his continued medical care. Please share and donate if you can!

This senior dude needs all our help and being that he's over 10 years old we really have to make sure we do everything he needs ASAP... Time isn't on his side, but we are and so is his amazing vet! 😻

Sorry for the late update. Tilly did great post-op, but between working full time and caring for these special babies we don't always get updates out as planned. The care of our cats ALWAYS comes before updates. We have to make sure we take care of them and us, so updates can be slow. As far as surgery so far so good with her wound repairs. Dr. Plummer was amazing, as usual, and managed to close almost all of the wounds. We are so thankful this is almost behind her. Due to the nature of her injures her healing will be slower than we like, but she's a strong young lady! She is NOT a fan of her E- Collar though. Send good thoughts her way as she will not be super pleased the next 14 days.
