Please don't forget to join us on Thursday the 22nd from 1-5PM. We will be celebrating the illustrious career of Dr Walter Hoge as he gets ready to retire at the end of the month.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Fifty years ago, a young man graduated from Purdue University with his Veterinary Medicine degree. He traveled to California with the dream of helping animals with their medical care. He landed at a clinic in Fremont before finally settling at Camden Pet Hospital. He set about to make a name for himself amongst the community as the veterinarian who could. Many of you know him as Dr. Walter Hoge, many as the man who saved their pets life, others know him as the man who treated all the family pets from when they were young children to when they were adults with their own pets. Some of us have known him as a boss, a mentor and a friend.
Dr. Hoge has treated many different species of pets throughout the years. If there was an animal in need he was always there to help. It didn?t matter what time of day or what day it was. He was there. Dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, mice, guinea pigs, tortoise, raccoon, skunk, chickens, crows, wombats, goats to name a few. He has performed surgeries that others would not have tried. He has given hope when no one else would. He has cared when no one else did.
He has performed the routine spay and neuter. A pyometra, bloat, splenectomy, cystotomy, foreign body surgery, amputation, knee surgery, growth removal, eye enucleation, entropian, c-section, heart surgery and lung surgery were some of the other surgeries he had taken on to save a life. In his younger days there were no specialists for the pet owner to take their beloved furry family member to. They went to Dr Hoge to help their pet. In his later years when specialists were abundant, the client sometimes didn't have the funds to go to the pricey specialist and Dr Hoge was there to help yet again. No matter how many times he had done that special procedure he would take out his weathered text book to make sure that he had every step down pat. The joy on the clients faces when they took their pet home was what Dr. Hoge cherished.
After 50 years as a veterinarian, 47 of them at Camden Pet Hospital, and 39 years as the Practice owner, Dr Hoge has decided to hang up his stethoscope. He will be retiring on February 29, 2024.
We would like to invite all of you to an afternoon at Camden Pet Hospital to help us celebrate all of his years serving the San Jose community and their pets. On February 22, 2024 from 1-5pm we will close for business in order to honor Dr Hoge and his illustrious career.
We anticipate many friends, clients, along with current and former staff members to celebrate the man we all know and love. Drop us a note to let us know that you will be there so that we may plan appropriately. Please direct any inquiries regarding this afternoon to [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you all and yes, I will be there too.
Thank You
