Summer is almost here, which means a lot of ice cream and frozen treats!
Did you know that plain vanilla and strawberry ice cream are okay for dogs to have? But there also so great dog ice cream options, like Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts.
But if you have the time making ice cream for your dog(s) is really easy and only takes 5 minutes!

Dog Ice Cream Recipe:
1. Mash a banana into a bowl
2. Plain Greek yogurt & Natural peanut butter mix into bowl.
3. Can add bacon or toppings your dog loves
4. Cover and freeze for 2 hours, when ready to serve let sit at room temperature for a couple minutes before serving.

But it’s important to clean up after your pup(s) and keep your neighborhood clean.
So here’s what you should know about dog p**p etiquette!

1. Bring a p**p bag with every time you leave the house. Keeping a p**p bag holder on the leash is a great way to never forget one!
2. Keep your dog(s) off people’s lawn/bushes/flowers.
3. Respect yard signs, some prefer you to stay off completely, some prefer the pre to be in a specific spot, while some just want you to pick up afterwards.
4. Always make sure to go back and pick up the p**p if you forget to bring a p**p bag.
5. If you see someone that forgot their p**p bags, offer them one of yours.
6. If your dog is prone to tummy issues, carry a little bit of cat litter for those runny p**p moments. It makes it an easier clean up!
7. Always throw away your used p**p bags at home or public garbage cans.

Did you know medium to long haired dogs should bathe every 4-6 weeks, and short haired dogs every 1-3 months?
Here’s a guide to bathing your dog at home!
1. You will need shampoo, (conditioner is optional) towel, warm to cool water, towels, brush/scrubber.
2. Find a comfortable spot and set up your bathing station before you begin.
3. Wet your dog’s coat, scrub with shampoo, wipe face, rinse coat with water, dry with towel.
4. You want to use a damp cloth to wash their face.
5. Do not pour water over your dog’s head, they can develop ear infections.
6. Walking or playing beforehand is a great way to tire them out and may ease anxiety.
7. Make sure to rinse all the shampoo off.
8. Use towels to dry your dogs coat the best you can. They will shake after so prepare for that.
9. Give tons of praises and a reward afterwards!

Be patient and take your time. Dogs tend to be very anxious with bath time, so rushing through will only add to the stress for them and for you.

The weather is getting warmer as we get closer to summertime, which can be dangerous for our dogs. A lot of dogs cannot handle a temp higher than 75 outside.
Here are some tips to keep your dog from overheating on warm days!
1. Keep your outdoor exercise short or early/late when it’s not as warm out.
2. Keep your dog hydrated!!
3. Use cooling mats, cooling vests, cooling blankets, dog pools, fans to keep them cool.
4. If your dogs do need to go outside provide shade, water, and keep it under 10 minutes at a time.
If your dog is panting, vomiting, lethargic, not responding to name.. please contact your vet immediately.

Have you noticed your dog has been acting different lately? It’s Spring Fever time for dogs! You might have been noticing your dog is waking up earlier, has more energy, seems more excited on your walks, or even might be agitated lately. With spring comes temp changes, sunshine, and plants/flowers blooming everywhere. Here’s a couple tips for Spring Fever.
1. Be patient: your dog might be excited, curious, and distracted by all the new stimuli outside. Allowing them time to explore and sniff is a great sensory stimuli for their brains.
2. Get a cooling mat or dog pool to keep them from overheating.
3. Keep an eye on allergy signs and triggers, if you’re noticing an allergies take your dog inside and contact your vet about medication.

It’s Spring time! Which means the weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and we are all deep cleaning our houses!
Here are some dog related Spring Cleaning tips!
1. Cleaning their bedding, covers, and blankets.
2. Clean and or replace their toys!
3. Create a designated bin for their toys, treats, and gear.
4. Clean their bowls, collars, leashes, harnesses.
5. Deep clean any carpet or upholstery they have access to.
6. Give your dog(s) a bath!

Today is the first day of Spring, which means sunshine and allergies! Did you know it’s pretty common for dogs to also suffer from allergy season? They don’t show the same symptoms as us, so here’s what to do look out for and how to help!

1. Scratching/Licking: while outside or after coming inside you notice a lot more scratching/Licking than usual.
2. Puffy Eyes/Eye Discharge: like us their eyes can get itchy and irritated.
3. Sneezing/Coughing: while outside or after coming back in they sneeze/cough/or having a hard time breathing often.
4. Red/Scaly Skin: The pollen can cause rashes and irritation.

If you notice any of these symptoms there’s couple ways to help. Give them a bath, wipe them down after playing outside, and give them some Benadryl. Always consult with your vet before giving medication. If allergies continue to get worse, let your vet know.
