STUDY REVEALS THE PRICE OF A GORGEOUS GREEN CHEMICALLY TREATED LAWN🏡 IS A 70% UPTICK IN THE RATE OF CANINE CANCER🔥🐾

Treating your lawn with yard chemicals☠️, allowing your pet to eat or play on grass that’s been sprayed💦, or walking your pet on golf courses⛳️ can negatively affect our dog’s health, according to several studies. In fact, it can impact your entire family, as pets can bring those chemicals back inside!

Dogs whose owners have had their lawns professionally treated have a 70% higher risk of lymphoma, the most common canine cancer 😱.

Here are some scary stats from the studies:

• 76% of dogs tested had herbicide residues in their urine following home lawn chemical application.

• 8 days after application, residues on dog fur were 14 X higher than normal.

• Pets track lawn chemicals into the home, leaving them on the floor or furniture which can end up in you & your children.

• According to researchers, even if you don’t use lawn chemicals be aware of your neighbour’s lawn as wind can cause herbicides to travel up to 50 feet away from the application site.

Our NEW book, The Forever Dog LIFE, focuses on how to raise the healthiest, happiest, long-lived dogs and cats, and in it we teach you how to evaluate your dog’s indoor and outdoor environmental chemical exposure⚠️. We offer you tips like:

• Safer lawn-care options
• DIY non-toxic w**d killer recipes
• Forever Dog Paw Soak Recipe for after walks in parks
And much, much more.

This resource is crucial this summer if you have pets spending time outdoors because even if you don’t use lawn chemicals, it doesn’t mean your dog isn’t being exposed.

Anyone gone swimming lately?

New research has shown that flatworms (H. americana) has spread to parts of the Colorado River, putting dogs in Southern California at risk of infection.

Chances are, if your dog or cat develops a tumor or other malignant condition, your vet may suggest feeding this soon-to-be-released pet food. Here's why following that advice may be a serious mistake, and what I recommend feeding instead, along with eight immune-enhancing add-ins.

Here’s a corrected infographic to help fix the popular but incorrect meme that has been circulating on social media this last month.
Please DON’T post “But I’ve heard X food is toxic” in the comments, rather, post the research studies (not links to outdated dog websites or blogs that haven’t bothered to clarify their poorly written material) about foods that have been declared “toxic” if consumed by pets with no science to back up the claim.
When you spend time searching the literature for toxicology studies on the feeding of fresh fruits and veggies to pets you come up shockingly empty-handed. AAFCO/FEDIAF state we should not feed these foods to pets: onions, grapes/raisins, macadamia nuts and chocolate. Those studies exist, but that’s it. 4 foods.
Compare that to never ending TOXIC/DON’T FEED lists found all over social media and it’s so confusing; even worse, people share these posts without doing any research.
There’s a big difference between feeding a giant pit in a fruit (or a wad of bark or leaves) and feeding normal amounts the actual edible fruit or veggie; same goes for your two-legged kids. Toddlers and pets need to have the rinds, cores, seeds, leaves, stems and pits of fruits removed prior to eating, and all fruits and veggies need to be chopped into tiny, bite-sized pieces. Common sense, right?
I believe pet parents also have some common sense and won’t offer rinds, pits or cores to their pets as treats; AKC and ASPCA, please update or clarify your out-of-date website info 🙏🏼.
Suggestion for pet websites discussing feeding real foods: put a * by foods that have a rind, pit, core or stem. Remind folks training treats should less than 10% of an animal’s daily calories, and if your pet has never had the new food before, always feed them slowly, giving the GI tract time to adjust. Chop them into tiny pieces and offer in moderation.
It’s time to declare common sense for the win; pet parents aren’t idiots, so it’s time we stop perpetuating fear-based myths and denying animals the fresh food treats they deserve. 🫐🍎🍒🍑🥭🥑🥝🥦🥬🥕🍌🥚🥒🍆🥥🍉🐾

Are you feeding your dog too often? ⏰🍗⏰🥩⏰🥕🐶

Dogs fed once a day are less likely to be diagnosed with age-related conditions than pooches fed more often, study claims.

In the largest largest study to date of feeding frequency conducted in companion dogs, University of Arizona-led experts analyzed data on 24,238 pet dogs from the US and found:

• Being fed once a day lowered the risk of nine types of canine health problems
• These included cancer, dental issues and either kidney or urinary complications
• Similarly, dogs fed only once daily scored lower on tests of cognitive problems
• But the team said it is too early to advise owners to change their pet's diets

“We view these results as an exciting first step of an ongoing exploration of the impact of diet on companion dogs living in human environments. Given the intense interest in, and popularization of, ‘longevity diets’ such as intermittent fasting and time-restricted feeding, these types of studies in dogs are both timely and important. We believe these studies will ultimately offer insights into factors that promote health and longevity for both dogs and humans.” - The Dog Aging Project

The scientists and researchers we interviewed for The Forever Dog book agreed that one meal a day for healthy dogs is ideal, in terms of maximizing autophagy and minimizing metabolic stress.

To learn how to transition your pup to a new eating schedule and create an eating window (which allows your pup to receive the benefits of intermittent fasting while offering the same amount of food) check out the section in our book “Personalized Meals as Medicine” found here: www.foreverdog.com

Have a pet with food allergies? 🐾🐓

Often when a pet has a suspected food sensitivity or “allergy”, many veterinarians will suggest feeding a special allergy diet - a limited ingredient diet or a “novel protein” elimination dietary trial.

However, a recent report in Veterinary Dermatology found there is potentially a high risk of 'cross-reactivity' across distant species, other food sources, and environmental inhalant allergens. What does this mean? 🤔

Scientists have found there are indications that the common allergens dogs may be sensitized to in meat protein, such as chicken🐓, are similar in structure to allergens found in other meats🐇🐟🐊, potentially explaining why some animals show no improvement in their food sensitivities, despite removing the problematic protein from their diet.

Join us LIVE this Sunday at noon ET for a lively discussion and Q&A surrounding what this latest study says, as well the latest studies on:
