Independence is Confidence
Today I ride with confidence! I began my weekly 30 minute therapeutic horse back riding sessions a few years ago with a leader and two side walkers. I began without confidence. I held onto my two side walkers and trusted my horse leader to get me to where I needed to be. I could not remember more than one directive at a time. I now ride in the SOUND STRIDES independent program here at ATRC! I not only remember several directives all at one time, I can tell my instructor the next step in my riding pattern before she gives me the directions. This may not be a big accomplishment to you but to me it is huge as these actions cross over into my everyday life! Thanks mom and my ATRC team for never giving up on me. #DebbyeScroggins

YESTERDAYS and TODAYS BULID TOMORROWS! We opened in August 2007. Our little red barn helped bring awareness to EQUINE ASSISTED SERVICES throughout the world through client and volunteer successes within our first five years. One ride, one step and determined consistency brings an opportunity to be a stronger individual. It’s cognitive, emotional and physical. Equine Assisted Services!

SUCCESS at INDEPENDENCE!
ATRC Rider, Karis, began her riding sessions in our flagship therapeutic riding program with a horse leader and two side walkers. Today, she is an independent rider who has promoted into our SOUND STRIDES independent program. Goals can be met when commitment, focus and hard work are taken seriously.
Note from this week’s lesson: Karis completed fully independent trots using the letters! I also generically told her “go walk around” on a break and she began to do circles, diagonals, and small patterns entirely on her own. Very interesting! Was a great ride! Special thanks to her family and the ATRC team who have supported her along the way. Yay Karis! You rock!

Lefty slams the new game!
LEFTY SLAMS IT!
A service horse learns to participate in new rider activities. We sometimes forget that life is cognitive, emotional and physical for our horses as well. They come to our program leaving their families, leaving what they know and enter a world of new surroundings and people. Good news!!! Our ATRC family always greets them with more love, hugs and kisses than they can handle at times. Service horses are the best family one could ever have. They change our quality of life! Thank you Lefty and Amanda for this practice ride
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR HORSE DONORS. We appreciate your trust in us.

RIP BUSTER. WE CELEBRATE BUSTER!Sunday, April 7, 2024 we said goodbye as our friend Buster laid down to sleep. He was the first ATRC service horse. Buster was the go to guy for everyone and every event. He was at the center of our program and our hearts. He gave much love to all! He is a huge loss to our program. Rest in peace Buster. You are for many their first horse, first love and forever in our hearts. We miss you!!! Love you!!!!
