Some good news to share. Hi baby bird is back. This pair was the first to go outside after the hurricane. I had them in a collapsible crate. The male bites hard, I couldn’t net him, so I grabbed the crate to put in my cart. I went over a few bumps and heard flapping. Looked back to see the male flying up in the tree. The sides of the cage collapsed. I saw him the next day, had sightings in the neighborhood, but didn’t see him till a week later. He started following me as I fed the birds. He came down for an almond, I tried to net him but he got away. 3 days later I was watering his girlfriend’s cage and there he was on the bush next to the cage. I didn’t want to spook him so I talked to him but didn’t move towards him. He came down closer to her and got on the cage. I grabbed a small cage and put it on top of the flight, put food in and in 4 minutes time he was inside. He is happy to be home, went and sat in the nest box with his girlfriend, then ate to his hearts content.

My mind has been racing since the passing of Doug, and now 2 hurricanes in 13 days. I can’t continue to do this. My plans are to close up shop after the inventory is gone. I also have a price list of breeders birds made up. If you may be interested send a message and I’ll forward the price list. Parrotmount’s Aviaries was our dream, but it is time to move forward in a new direction. It will take time to sell what I have so please still come to shop. Lots of inventory. Will keep you informed on my progress here. I want to also thank you for your support all these years. Please note, no shipping on live birds. Pick up only.

I want to personally thank all those who have checked in on me and those who pitched in to help with this hurricane. You don’t know how much it means to me. Thank you so much. I can’t believe I got through without the organization skills of Doug Horton.

The warehouse will be closed tomorrow. Still have hurricane issues to deal with. I will reopen on Wednesday, 12-5:00 pm. Rest assured the birds are safe, just have clean up of debris and have to move the birds back into their flights.

I am open today 12-5:00 pm. In October I will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays except Monday October 7th, and Saturday October 12th. Sunday October 13th is a bird show in Jacksonville.

Doug created the calendar, don’t know how and I don’t have time to learn. So please keep in mind I am open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday 12-5:00 pm. On Saturday September 7th I am bringing in babies for all to see. Baby sale, come see them. I am not going to be on the road doing shows like we did together. I may still do an occasional bird show with Iris Andino and when I do I will post the event. Hope to see you on Saturday. 🐣🐣🐣🐣

Asking for Love and Prayers for my sister, Lisa Mildbrand, and owner of Parrotmount Aviaries, in honor of the Love of her Life of 41 years, Doug Horton. Doug passed away Friday morning from colon cancer. He was diagnosed a little over 4 years ago. He put up an incredible fight. Going through extensive surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments. Never complaing and having the most positive attitude, up to the very end. Doug had just turned 60 years old on the 17th. Unfortunately, cancer once again taking a life too young. Keep Lisa in your thoughts and hearts as she goes through this most difficult time. We Love you Lisa and pray that God will bring you strength and comfort. May you find peace in your memories.💗💕🙏🫶
