Closing out our month long escape to WEC Ocala, Aniston Williams and her super gelding Jailhouse Jumper OMHG (by Fly Over OMHG) had a fantastic 3 days. Champion in the 80cm’s on Friday. 7th in the Novice Jumpers on Saturday and 2nd today in the Novice Jumper Classic today. Congratulations Aniston! And as always thank you Erin Hughes Equestrian for all your hard work and getting the best from people and horses.

Back at it again in style today was Shannon Bell’s Cassiana (By Cassiano). They were 3rd in the adult equitation today at Kentucky. This has been her first horse show experience with Captivate and we couldn’t be more happy for this pair.

Got dapples? Marike Dussault’s Carbon Copy sure does! This was at the recent Traverse City Horse show where they won the hack in the over 35 adult amateur section. He was placed in over fences classes too. Looking forward to more from them this summer. Know what else we love about this pair? Marike bred “Carbo”. All of us at Captivate Equestrian are so excited to announce that we are collaborating with Erin Hughes Equestrian as trainer. We couldn’t be more excited to have her on board. Erin was our original trainer for many years and this is a welcome homecoming. We can’t wait for the upcoming show season! Below are photos of Erin and Andy (Air Guitar, 2005 KWPN gelding by Gentleman). One at a show a few years ago and one schooling this week. As soon as he saw her walking in the barn he was nickering to her which says it all. The other photos are of Freddie (Victor Des Jenkins Z, 2018 Zangersheide gelding by Van Gogh). Really looking forward to his Stateside debut.

One of my favorite parts of the job is finding really nice young horses that have the potential to flourish here at Captivate. “Freddie”, Victor Des Jenkins Z, is just such a horse. In the first photo you can see his mom Viola Adelheide. Freddie was baking in the oven when this photo was taken. Then Freddie as a foal. The rest are photos of him settling in at Captivate. As the new year approaches, Captivate Farms is looking for one or two select clients who’d like to show with us in the Midwest. Captivate and trainer Mackenzie Crookston will be going to WEC Ohio, Traverse City, and HITS Chicago. In early 2024 we also plan to include WEC Ocala for a few weeks in the winter. Just before Christmas, Marike Dussalt and her own homebred Carbon Copy were champions in the 3ft Adult Amateurs. “Carbo” is a Canadian Sporthorse by Guy Laroche and bred by Marike Dussault. What a way for Mackenzie Crookston, Marike, and Carbo to finish the year.
