The past 3 days of clinic with Wylene were great. Perfect weather. Everyone laughed, cried, enjoyed their own horses, other horses, grew personally and as riders. Some quotes…. “This was life changing” “I lm just in disbelief I did that” “I am having so much fun” “I feel like a kid again” it was a great weekend!
2 days of clinic! Laughing, loving, tears, doing hard things, getting out of our comfort zones, riding and guiding our horses. A cool safe environment with a bunch of awesome people to learn and grow together!
Day one of youth camp with Wylene! These girls learned how to ride and guide. They learned about saddles, flying lead changes, how to ride fast, rode out on the trails, did hard things! They pushed themselves and had fun doing it! Heres to round 2 tomorrow!
As a trainer I think its important to be well rounded, have eyes on the ground, and always continue your training. I took a refresher jump class and it was great to test myself again.
Its been a busy day at the farm! Gunner got his first ride here (hes been ridden prior). My lesson student got to watch me train, helped clean the barn, had a ride on Nutmeg. Maggie got her first ride by a novice rider. Gretchen was so excited to ride Maggie even if its only a walk and Maggie handled it like a champ! Maggie is still pretty green under saddle so this was a great test!
Jack gets a friend! He follows magic around like a lost puppy! #horses #palamino #paint #horsetrainer #horseboarding
One of our lesson girls helped out around the barn in the heat! Taking horses in, hosing them down, putting them under fans.
Cammo is great on the ground. Working on desensitization! If your in the market for a horse. Hes for sale.
9 LONG months and Jack is a free man! No more stall rest for him. Off to the races he goes! #palamino #aqha #horsetraining
Cammo started to learn curbside pickup to help with his rider mounting issue. He is sooo smart. It took about 20min for him to figure it out. Whats even cooler is Karsyn also got to learn how to teach it. I started the basics and then taught her, she has only ever taught her mare! Helps when the training horse is smart and willing to learn.
Maggie is looking sooo good! She is coming along wonderfully.
Sheba is here for training to make the perfect partner for her owner. She has a killer stop off of seat and is coming along nicely! She has so much try and loves to learn.
Sheba mastered curbside pick up sooo quickly! Today she had her first official ride under saddle. She is with us for 30 days to be broke out to ride and make the best trail partner for her owner! Excited to see where this smart girl goes!
I promise you that your horse will be BROKE! First time meeting Sheba. I will be going for on site training to saddle break her, followed by training at our facility to refine her and put more miles on. We needed to make some minor tack adjustments and she was GREAT!
We recently got a radio for the horses…. More like the people. Heres your reminder to stop and take a dance break!
We like to expose our training horses to everything. After todays session we played in the snow and water. With the snow melting we have a lot of water, although not deep it gives for great learning opportunity! This little girl was ready to lay down in it. Water is not a fear here!
Maggie had her first walk, trot, canter ride. She is on the lazy side but when she moves shes got speed. She also tolerates a lot of the funny things we throw at her! She will be available soon!
We are on the home stretch of this mustangs training! The beginning was rough. Any pressure and she tried to bolt. Now shes the sweetest, smartest, and starting to become a great all arounder.
Home stretch includes:
-Dental
-Riding
We have checked off so many boxes during her time here and the home stretch is all about riding and making her the best horse possible for her owner. She is accepting a rider wonderfully!
When we first moved into the farm we had a water issue. We called it lake Brown. But it was no joke. There was a LOT of water when it rained or the snow melted. Actually the most water the neighbors had seen🤣 It was an issue we wanted to take care of as quickly as we could for the boarders, the horses, and lesson students.
In march we started working on the water issues. Moving in sand and digging down past the clay.
The work started again in May where more sand was moved in to bring the ground up.
In November we did more work! More drilling down past the clay, tons and tons of sand.
Lake brown is gone. More maintenance work will have to be done but the water drains faster, the lake doesnt get as big, the horses have nice dry pastures.
If you have been around long enough you have seen my awesome flag skills…. Well let me introduce you to my awesome nails in a plastic bottle skills!
Killing 2 birds with one stone during this desensitization session!
Maggie is still a little reactive about things moving fast behind her. By the end she was a lot calmer. She has also had a few rides since being here, stay tuned for that progress!
