Thank you IEA - Interscholastic Equestrian Association for a great National Championships! Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team’s Middle School Team finished 5th and High School team finished 8th. Not too shabby when you realize 1,500 teams started the season. Like all big competitions there were lots of highs and lows, but through it all the girls learned…became better riders, better competitors, better teammates and even better friends. It was particularly special for our two seniors - Kali Riddell and Ella Smith. Thank you to our fearless leaders Kathy Johnson and Allison Kerivan, and particular thanks to Clair Thunes for her support, friendship and being my mental health coach! ❤️ Arizona Dressage

We could not have hoped for better results this weekend for Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team at Zone Finals. Both the High School and Middle School teams qualified for IEA - Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Championships, and every single individual rider who competed also qualified. It was the kind of weekend where you really appreciate the value of sport for kids, the value of hard work and the value of teamwork. I am very grateful for the opportunity to coach these amazing kids! Thank you to Clair Thunes, Allison Kerivan, and Kathy Johnson for making the dream work! Thank you to the amazing parents who supported us all weekend and for trusting us with your kids.

RNR had another great weekend at the Arizona Dressage Association (ADA) “Spring” Show. Laura Tillman’s GQ won 3/4 Open High Point with me, and Laura had some great rides and blues with him too. Kali won junior 3/4 High Point, and some improving YR tests too and a qualifying freestyle on Hashtag. She also competed Laura Bill’s lovely Bono in his first ever PSG with some solid scores! Great mileage for them both. Samantha MacDonald competed in her first ever FEI Pony classes earning a qualifying score. Mila LeVine and Pancake continue to be the darling of the shows, and they are really figuring this dressage thing out. We loved hanging with our Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team friends and supporting each other.

Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team finished the season STRONG! 💪🏻 High School won both shows and Middle School one won too! Both teams are qualified and nearly every rider is qualified for Oklahoma City! Kali finished her regular IEA season as high point rider as did Sami Macdonald. I am going to miss these seniors so much - Kali Riddell and Estella Smith. They are long, hard days but it is so gratifying to see how far each of these riders has come. Thank you to Kathy Johnson, Allison Kerivan and Clair Thunes for being AMAZING co-coaches, and to the team moms who took such good care of us, and to the wonderful judges Molly Martin and Cynthia Ganem who gave great comments to the kids. The future of Dressage is bright, as is the future of Scottsdale Equestrian IEA Team!

RNR killed it at the Arizona State Championships! Thank you Tucson Dressage Club! Kali and Hashtag put in another solid PSG, won the 4th level State Championships, and the 3rd level State Championships with a 70% (double judged)! Oh, and FEI Junior High Point! Sami MacDonald won the Training Level Championships in a very competitive class, with her Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team teammate winning Reserve (go Felicity Thunes!), and High Point! Mila LeVine and Panacake continue to steal the show and earned lots of good show miles and qualified for Regionals at DSE.

Thank you Arizona Dressage Association (ADA) for a great show! Sami MacDonald and Candy Crush won Junior High Point of the show, Laura Tillman’s Galaxy Quest won overall Open High Point of the show after being a little spicy. 🌶️ Kali and won FEI Junior High Point, had a beautiful 4th level earning 8’s on her canter pirouettes, and after a spicy PSG, rode a beautiful PSG beating all the Open riders with nearly a 66%. A solid start to her Young Rider career thanks to Verena Mahin! Mila LeVine and Pancake aka Short Stack continued to steal the show and our hearts, with LOTS of blue ribbons. It was also great to have Laura Bill and Bono back with some solid 4th level rides, all while being in the midst of moving (notice the shoes 😆). Kali had a little fun catch riding Bono on Sunday winning 3,3. Great mileage and a great start to the show season!

Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team had an exhausting but GREAT weekend. It was incredibly rewarding to watch how the kids improved just over the course of the weekend. Our High School team was a Reserve Champions on Saturday and stepped it up on Sunday to be the Champions. 🥇 Our Middle School team did the same thing. 🥇 Kali Riddell was High Point Varsity Rider on Saturday and her cousin Ellie Sullivan was High Point Varsity Rider on Sunday. We kept it in the family! Kali Riddell and Ella Smith both won the Sportsmanship award. These girls work HARD, but the smiles on their faces says it all! Thank you to Kathy Johnson, Allison Kerivan, Clair Thunes for being incredible co-coaches and friends. Thank you to all the parents woke before dawn, trusted us with their kids and stayed until the very end (and supplied us with endless ice teas!). RNR had a GREAT time at the Arizona Dressage Association (ADA) USDF Regional Dressage Championships! Both my girls are headed to Nationals - one to Lexington and one to Lamplight! Kenzie Riddell and Oodles continue to do the unimaginable. Her story is a fairy tale thanks to Holly Bergay Dressage, Mary Bergay and Martin Vidal! Kali win the Junior Team Test finishing her Junior career with a spicy ride! 🌶️ She then had some lovely 4th level rides and is ready for PSG! She also won the Dressage Seat Equitation Semi-Finals, qualifying for Lamplight. Laura Tillman’ GQ was VERY happy to be back showing, perhaps a little too happy so I took a few classes on him. Laura then finished the show with a solid third level and a 66%! It was also great to see Jessica Keesey back showing Pirazzi with some beautiful FEI rides. Sami was back at it with her lovely Candy Crush, with a bright future! Mila LeVine’s pancake stole the show and our hearts again! Her new pony Mr. Worldwide also had a super show debut! We had a great time hanging with Haybales & Barbells, Sophia, and all my Scottsdale Equestrian Dressage IEA Team kids that came to help! Our Mojo Dojo Casa House was the perfect theme for our barn, with all these strong young women ready to take on the world! Oh, and we had just a little fun doing it! 😆

We had a great time at the Usef Dressage Festival Of Champions. Kali did a little catch riding in the Dressage Seat Medal Finals. Huge thank you to Monique Potts for loaning us her beautiful horse, and huge thank you to Holly Bergay Dressage for the great coaching. Kali rode beautifully but we had a few green horse moments in the pattern courtesy of a trash bag.😆 Lots of fun was had nonetheless! It was also great to see USDF Region 5 FEI Youth and IEA Dressage well represented with both Kali and Taylor Allen in the class. The future of dressage is bright! 🌟

I am incredibly delinquent in posting because we have been too busy having a great summer! 😆 Kali and did a great job at the FEI North American Youth Championships in Flintfields Horse Park, with solid rides and a clear indication they are ready to move up to Young Riders. We are very grateful for all the people that helped get them there - Verena Sonstenes-Mahin, Martin Vidal, Sara Ferguson, Dan Klinski to name only a few. We so enjoyed being a part of the USDF Region 5 FEI Youth team, making new friends and spending time with old. It is a magical experience! We can’t wait to be back next year! 💪🏻
