Welcome, Linus! 🐾

Today, we had the pleasure of meeting Linus, a newly adopted kitty from Foothills Animal Rescue, for his very first check-up in his forever home! 🏡

Linus is loving life with his new family and spends his days endlessly playing with his new big brother—an 80-pound golden retriever (though Linus doesn’t seem to notice the size difference, and we won’t spoil the secret!).

He was an absolute champ during his appointment, and we’re so excited to watch him grow and thrive. Welcome to the McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital family, Linus! ❤️

🐾 A Tale of Courage: Meet Our Brave Feline Friend 🐾

This week, we had the honor of caring for a very sweet cat, Gingy. Gingy underwent a cystotomy (bladder surgery) to remove uncomfortable bladder stones. Thanks to the quick action of their loving family and our skilled veterinary team, the procedure went smoothly, and our furry patient is already on the road to recovery!

Bladder stones can cause discomfort and even serious health issues, but early detection and treatment make all the difference. If you notice your pet straining to urinate, going more often than usual, or showing signs of discomfort, don’t wait—schedule a check-up right away.

Let’s send this brave kitty lots of love for a speedy recovery! 💕

🦠Leptospirosis is an infection of Lepto bacteria. Found in the urine of infected mice, rats, racoons, skunks and possums, this bacteria gets excreted into the environment.

Dogs are most often infected by drinking from a contaminated water source. The bacteria then targets the liver and kidneys, leading to serious illness and sometimes death.

You can prevent infection with an annual lepto vaccine and booster, good for dogs over 12 weeks old.

Help us spread awareness on the importance of the lepto vaccine by sharing this post!

Does your pet have a beautiful face like our friend here? Keep reading (and drop a photo in the comments)!

Deep wrinkles often trap moisture causing yeast to thrive. If left untreated, their skin can get inflamed and infected. This is called skin fold dermatitis.
Symptoms may include redness and inflammation, itching, odor, skin discoloration, and skin lesions.

Regularly cleaning and drying their folds with vet-approved cleanser can go a long way! Our team can discuss more options to help your squishy-faced friend remain looking and feeling beautiful! Give us a call.

Meet 9 yr old Freddie Mercury. Freddy came in to see Dr. Kashman when mom noticed he didn't seem to be feeling well. His exam and bloodwork results indicated a trip to a specialist for an ultrasound was needed. Turns out his liver needed extra support. After medications were prescribed, we are happy to report he is feeling better.. A follow up appointment will ensure he continues to do well.
