Congrats to Luna who graduated canine obedience today and received her diploma! 💯👍🐶

Luna was a stray from the Bahamas who was rescued by Jody Cordaro, his wife Trudy and family who brought her back to Moscow, PA. They snuck her on the plane to get her home ♥️

The first session she was a bit timid of me but got the ball rolling with the family going over the concepts of positive reinforcement training. We worked on some things the family was mainly concerned about such as barking and long distance recall.

The 2nd session was a total turnaround, she was very interested in me and allowed me to perform several commands with her, leash walk her, barking has stopped and she was simply having problems with one command, stay.🤟🦴🐶

Today was the final session where Luna was socialized with Niko, other dogs and people at the park who joined in the training. you could see the dog come out of her. the instant she was let off leash to run around the enclosed area with her new friends.

After practicing her indoor commands now outside amongst many distractions, we then worked on long distance recall in an open field.

She did absolutely amazing as Niko and I sat in her path she was to walk by when called (for added distraction), she was tempted to stop with Niko there, as I also held out treats to also tempt her. She did this several times even from 50 ft away.

I have to say, that for a dog who lived as a stray her entire life, to perform the way she did is nothing short of amazing, and a testament to the work the Codaro family has put in.

The entire family was involved with the training and Luna now has the guidance and confidence she needs to become just a normal dog and live a happy life 🐶🎓🏅🙏♥️🐶

this is Luna, a 1 and 1/2-year-old pot cake dog, otherwise known as a stray dog in the Bahamas, similar to a terrier mutt. She was brought home by Jody Cordaro and his family while there vacationing.... they snuck her onto the plane and back home to Moscow, PA.. 👍💯🤟🙏🐶 how great is that!

she just concluded her 2nd of 3 sessions and showed vast improvement in her excessive barking and fear of people. men in particular, I believe. although last week I was able to perform 6 commands with her while showing the Cordaro family....she didn't seem to take to me or the training as welll as I had hoped to see.

but this week I was shocked as I was greeted by a happy carefree dog who the week before shied away from me for the most part👍🐶🙏💯🤟 after a while we got through reviewing week one commands and proceeded with adding much more including doorway boundaries and claiming your door space, having her stay while going into other rooms for longer period of times, and even began on the basics of positive reinforcement leash walking.

also, a repairman who she incessantly barked at all the time came in during the training and she went up to check him out in total silence and walked away. I could tell the family had worked on what I showed them the week prior on how to help alleviate her fears and what to have people do when they enter had really helped Luna immensely from one week ago.

Luna was like a different dog , and since more of the family were this week, there was more distraction and more people got the chance to do the commands with her as well as beginning her on leash walking as we did outside.

Even though official leash walking training doesn't begin till week 3 she did exceptionally well in what I wanted to convey to her through the leash this week 🐶 looks like we may have another star student here who graduates next week 🎓💯🏅

This handsome young man, Columbo, a 5-month-old Bassett/beagle mix is making huge strides and will graduate Friday💯🙏 he is doing all of his commands no problem.

But upon session 2 when we got Colombo outside I noticed he was terrified of everything. He pulled and pulled to get back into the house from his front lawn, and went absolutely crazy whenever cars went by, people walked by, lawn mower noises going on, etc.

I asked his owner's Frank Spinillo and mother Marie come down onto the lawn with me. I showed them some calming techniques to use with Colombo when he is over stimulated.

Within about 20 minutes Columbo had stopped the pulling, was lying down on the lawn letting people come up to pet him, watching cars go by, and was unfazed by the lawn mower noise.

Frank and Marie were so happy that they are going to be able to enjoy Columbo and that there was nothing wrong with him, just a little fear.

Colombo also was messing in the house and since our last session he has had no more messes.

Big test for Columbo when he meets Niko at the park, somewhere he has never been with a lot of activity going on around him.

Today's graduation for Brandy was a huge success for this little girl 💯👍🎖️🎓🏅🐶 Brandy is still so young but overcame all of her fears such as lawn mowers, ceiling fans, blenders, even meeting new dogs after being previously attacked.

So along with training her for obedience and setting up her home environment to her liking, concentrating on her fears and socializing her was the main focus.

After showing her owner Anna Franch and her son Steve how to have new dogs greet each other for the first time, Niko and her instantly became best friends and she also met other dogs with the same ease and no fear👍🐶🦴💯

Also, it was just as important to explain to Mom and Steve how to instill confidence in her while desensitizing her to these fears, simply by the way we communicated with her through the leash.

Today Brandy not only was relaxed and playful, I took her right up to the lawn mower as the person at the park as cutting grass! It was a beautiful thing to see😊🐶♥️

Brandy also is able to now walk back and forth underneath the ceiling fan, and around the blender as if they weren't even there. I explained to Mom that baby talk only exasperates the situation and what to do instead to install confidence instead of fear.

Brandy performed her commands amidst all the distractions, did excellent on long distance recall, was leash walked for the first time without pulling on our pack walk, but most importantly she was so brave in overcoming all of her fears that were causing the anxiety 🐶♥️

Training her to conquer the above mentioned fears she had is just as much about what to do as it is what not to do. Mom took extensive notes throughout the entire course and has been so dedicated to Brandy's success.

I think Brandy and her owners are on the right path to a happy, healthy and fun life with no fear or anxieties. Previously mom understandably was hesitant to socialize her because of the attack, leash pulling and Brandy's anxiety.

Now, they have all the tools they need to maintain everything going forward and I have nothing but joy being able to help the family and this little girl, it's why I do what I do 🐶♥️🙏💯🦴👍🏅🎓

Brandy achieved her certificate of excellence diploma for coming through and doing everything that was asked of her, as scared and reactive as she was.

I intend to follow up with Anna and Steve for future play dates with Niko, and help them create more positive experiences.

You could almost see the smile on Brandy's face 🐶😊♥️🙏as the anxiety and fear melted away as if it was never there♥️🙏🐶

I am honored they entrusted me to help this little girl and I couldn't be happier with the results, all due to their dedication to her happiness ♥️

Dogs need grains unless they have an allergic reaction or digestive problems. Do not feed your dog grain-free food unless this is the case.

Additives shown below have tremendous health benefits for your dog. For an average size dog (50 lbs) use these guidelines, you slightly more or less depending on their weight.

Turmeric - a pinch once daily

Ginger - a pinch once daily

Lion's Mane Mushroom powder - 1 teaspoon daily

Ground Flaxseed or Flaxseed oil - 1 teaspoon daily

Unrefined Coconut oil - 1/4 teaspoon every other day

Chia Seeds - 1 teaspoon daily

Adding these are highly beneficial to your dog's health, mix with a little water into their kibble and stir.

Add one product at a time such as you would for an infant to see if there is any adverse reaction, then proceed to the next.

Please be sure to use smaller amounts of each until your dog's system gets used to each.

Marley's graduation is Saturday and as you could see Lyla is thoroughly involved in her training.

This adorable girl is Brandy, graduating tomorrow! Owned by Anna Franch and her son Steve of Throop.

She has mastered every command over the past 2 weeks, has done excellent with leash walking and outdoor commanding.

Tomorrow is her big day where she will meet Niko and learn how to greet new dogs along with performing her existing commands plus a whole bunch of new ones tomorrow!

Meet Columbo, 5 month old basset hound beagle mix who just started his training. Proudly owned by Frank Spinillo and his mom Marie of Dunmore.

Columbo did excellent in his first session, adjusting to his new crate setup and learning and performing 6 commands very effectively for such a young pup.

Frank's man concern is potty training and leash walking which we are focusing on. Looking forward to session #2 🐶♥️

Meet Leia, a white shepherd and Eva a black lab who both just graduated from obedience training 🐶🐶 They are the pride and joy of Denise Locco and husband Joe.

Denise's main concern was Leia and since they live near a wooded area it was of major concern to get long distance recall mastered.

Both of these girls did excellent in their training and Denise was on top of everything from the very start.

Niko came along for the training to teach socialization and add distraction while Leia performed her commands outdoors at the park with ease.

She had a little trouble with the stay command because she hates to be away from her mom LOL but overall I was very satisfied with the results.

Leia came back to Denise on every recall, each time letting her gain further distance away while Niko was there to distract her.

They all got along famously, met several other dogs, went for a pack walk, practice all off leash commands and even went for a swim in the river♥️

I commend Denise and Joe on how much they worked on each command diligently to make the training a success.

Congratulations to both Leia and Eva on gaining their diplomas 🐶💯👍🏅🎖️🎓🎓

keep in mind your dog's coat needs to be combed out with a deshedding tool, otherwise known as the furminator... at least 4 to 5 times a year especially now when their winter coat is falling out.

this gets an amazing amount of excess hair off your dog that a regular brush won't, and it needs to be done to keep your dog from overheating 🙏♥️🐶

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter has announced it is severely over capacity due to the high number of people abandoning their pets because of the poor economy.

In a strange way I'm glad, because these people never deserved those pets and abandoning your pet shows it.

I think it comes down to....how much do you really love your pet?? I personally would never abandon my pet for any reason. I would give up my house, my truck and all my possessions, my life for them🐶🐶🐶♥️🙏

So please if you have been considering adopting a pet now is the time to take a run up to Griffin Pond and see who is awaiting your company 😺😺🐶🐶♥️

Every time I go up I make sure to give each dog individual attention and they just eat it up that it makes it hard to move on to the next dog. But it makes you realize quickly there are so many.

Everyone I ever talk to says if they hit the lottery or got rich they would build shelters for all of them, and I as well.

This sweet but very shy and timid boy, Dexter, recently begin therapy with me 🐕❤️ he was a puppy mill dog and not rescued until he was 7 years old.

Tom and Carolyn Hayes of Wyoming took him into their loving home about 18 months ago, and poor baby 🐕 is having trouble adjusting. He is scared of people and really doesn't move off of his bed much. He doesn't play and is not food motivated.

I went over some vital things with Tom and Carolyn on how to start the road to happiness ❤️🐕 for Dexter.

We made great progress in the very first meeting where I was able to sit next to him, pet him, leash walk him and sit with me for several minutes on the couch where he even fell asleep 😀🐕❤️🙏🏼

There is a long road ahead of us but I see a path forward for this gentleman, to be a fully functional and social happy dog. He has certainly earned that after 7 years of what must have been a horrible life 😭 thank God for you Tom and Carolyn 🙏🏼❤️🐕

this is what can be accomplished with the right medications even for a 15-year-old husky weighing over 80 lb with hip and leg problems.

I put him on Dasaquin, Welactin fish oil pills and 1 50 mg tablet twice a day for pain.

besides the tramadol the first two can be bought on chewy.com and it got my dog Desi out of his wheelchair at 15 years old and he lived to be nearly 18 🐕🙏🏼❤️👍
