Happy Winter WOOF

The Longest Night has now passed. Thousands of candles were lit around the world in memory of so many beautiful sled dogs north of the bridge who wait for the day they will be reunited with their beloved humans. We wanted to wrap up the celebration by again sharing this amazing original artwork by Cameo Anderson which so accurately depicts the spirit of those sled dogs we love so much.

WHOA….HUNGRY Dogs ALERT PLEASE HELP…Thank you

With over 50 dogs at the facility, we are going through a LOT of food! We’re almost completely out! We use Nature’s Domain salmon and sweet potato from Costco (also available on Amazon) - we don’t like to switch brands because ……. huskies and their sensitive stomachs 🤢
If anyone ventures out and could pick up a bag or two for us, we would be so grateful!

Parvo ...potential death sentence to Dogs

Huskies need Homes, Please Help!!!

Marion County Humane Society needs help getting homes for these babies. They are doing everything they can before they have to do the unthinkable to free up space!!! Please please help!! Adopt don’t shop!! It saves lives.

This is Brian over at the Marion County Dog Shelter. Our shelter is bursting at the seams with dogs and we are trying very diligently to free up space in our shelter for incoming dogs. We presently have ten northern breed type dogs in our care and we're wondering if you may have the resources to help some of them? We prefer to transfer dogs into the care of rescue groups as space here is a hot commodity but if you are unable to take dogs in, helping to get the word out about the dogs in need helps as well.

Here are some minimum details on each and I'm attaching a photo of each dog as well:

Saska #54454, 5 years old, 66-pounds, intact male Siberian Husky
This guy is very sweet, needs a good grooming, is resistant to medical handling but SUPER treat motivated and willing to please. He knows sit and stay.

Pixie #54183, 2 years old, 49-pounds, intact female Siberian Husky
Pixie is a playful, bouncy girl who loves most other dogs. She's a very good girl with the typical Husky energy.

Unnamed #54456, 1 year old, 43-pounds, intact male Siberian Husky
This guy is slightly shy/fearful but he's willing to greet and interact without any issues. Sweet, calm demeanor overall.

Echo #54042, 4 years old, 93-pounds, spayed female Siberian Husky/Malamute
Echo is a giant love! She is indeed overweight but she's obedient, calm and very people savvy. I can't say enough good things about this super sweet girl. We do have a pending application for adoption on Echo but I've included her on this list in case she isn't adopted.

Gatsby #53042, 3 years old, neutered male Siberian Husky
This guy is about a push button as a Husky can possibly be. He's very well behaved, is obedient, knows quite a few commands and can be playful yet calm. Loves to play with other dogs. We do have a pending application for adoption on Gatsby but I've included her on this list in case he isn't adopted.

Sierra #51562, 3.5 years old, 37-pounds, spayed female Siberian Husky
This girl is incredibly affectionate and a wonderful all around kind of dog. She does tend to cower when being leashed up but no other issues. Sierra is mostly calm but can do the rowdy thing as well.

Ravioli #54198, 3 years old, 51-pounds, intact male Siberian Husky
Ravioli has an outstanding personality, he's very willing to please but doesn't have mush training. We have been working with Ravioli to develop his sit and listening during meal times. He is just getting over a bout of kennel cough.

Akira #53327, 1 year old, 54-pound, spayed female Siberian Husky
Akira came back to us post adoption because she imposed a mild bite to one of the adopters when he abruptly grabbed her collar during a reprimand. We consider this incident to be provoked. Akira is a super sweet girl, fairly easy going and loves to play with other dogs. No formal training.

Nova #54431, 1 year old, 59-pound, intact female Siberian Husky
Nova is depressed here in our kennels so she could really use an outlet sooner than later. She's calm, cool and collected most of the time. Nova enjoys human affection and is obedient. Known chicken killer.

Milo #54430, 7 month old, 58-pound intact male Siberian Husky
Milo is super human focused, loves affection and attention from anyone. He's very submissive around other dogs, no dog socialization really. Milo is indeed a puppy and it shows in how he interacts with people. Known chicken killer.

Please let me know if you can help any of these dogs find their way out of our shelter.
