Sookie is a little shy at first, but with some patience he will be your best friend! He likes to eat out of your hand and doesn't mind being gently handled. He's inquisitive and smart, and needs more challenging puzzles as enrichment as he figures them out pretty quickly! He loves running on his exercise wheel and ball, as well foraging for his food and figuring out puzzles to earn a treat.

Thorn the Bearded Dragon
Thorn the bearded dragon was surrendered to us after he was rescued from a hoarding situation by Animal Friends.

Thankfully Thorn is healthy, especially compared to his friend Rose who was rescued from the same home. Thorn is very active and loves to eat! He would make a great addition to any family!

Rose was rescued from a hoarding situation by Animal Friends, and since Animal Friends doesn't typically work with reptiles, they reached out to us for help!

Rose is gentle and kind, and deserves a loving forever home. But before she is ready for adoption, she has some health issues to overcome. We believe Rose has pneumonia, as well as metastatic mineralization. Both of which are very serious illnesses, and the later will require very specialized long-term medical care.

Now that we are a foster based rescue, we rely solely on donations to fund our rescue efforts. Please consider making a donation to help save Rose!

Thanks to your donations to our Gofundme, and our thanks to our wonderful foster family, Roxy was able to finish treatment for a respiratory infection and mouth rot, and she is finally able to find a forever family!

Roxy is extremely gentle and loves everyone! She is a a beautiful boa and would make a great addition to any family who has the space to house her. She is approximately 5-6 ft long, and a boa that big needs a very big enclosure!

Tweety the Canary!
Everyone meet Tweety the Canary!

Canaries can make great pets and Tweety is no exception! They don't typically like to be handled by humans, but they provide entertainment and enjoyment through their beautiful calls and songs.
Only male canaries sing complex songs, but females (like Tweety) can still sing simple songs and make adorable sounds like in the video on this post!

I don't know about you, but I think iguanas eating just may be one of the cutest things!

Lizard the Iguana has been waiting for his forever home for an extremely long time. Nobody seems to want to give Lizard a loving forever home because like many iguanas, he has a bit of an attitude problem. But in my opinion, that doesn't mean that he deserves love any less than other animals. In fact, I think if he had a loving home, his attitude toward humans may turn around!

First up in our permanent resident highlight is Burt the Bearded Dragon!
If you've met Burt, then you've certainly fell in love with the most adorable bearded dragon around!

Burt was available for sale at the pet store that Sara took over in 2018. He was being kept in a 20 gallon tank with no heat, no water, pine bedding as the substrate, and he was only being fed pinhead crickets once a week. If you know bearded dragon care, then you can image how terrible this was.
.
As soon as Sara took over, she got Burt in a proper enclosure. When Sara placed a bowl of delicious produce in front of him, he side eyed her and very slowly licked it to figure out what it was. Then he quickly inhaled the entire bowl!
As you can imagine, he was very scared of us at first. But after he had a big meal, he fell asleep on Sara's shoulder. Sara then decided to make Burt a permanent resident of the store!
.
Since then, Burt has become a crowed favorite! He absolutely loves attention (and food), and has a hilarious personality! He is the perfect permanent resident/education animal/store mascot because he is the most gentle dragon around!

I don't know about you, but to me Guinea pigs munching on crunchy food is the cutest thing!
This little girl and her 4 family members have been patiently waiting for their forever homes for way too long.

Happy Serpent Saturday from Large Marge! I hope everyone has a great Saturday filled with all of your favorite things. For Marge this is eating the biggest meal around and then relaxing for three days straight. Life as a snake would be great 🐍
We have some good news... Ruby is feelin good and back at the store!
.
After a bad round of pneumonia and some scary x-rays, Ruby spent 2 weeks at home under medical watch. The antibiotics she was prescribed cleared up the pneumonia. And at her follow up vet appointment, the vet was impressed at how well she was doing! She is still being closely monitored to see if any symptoms reappear now that she has completed her anabiotics. The initial x-ray showed swelling in her liver; this could have been swelling in another part of her body due to the pneumonia that was mistaken for the liver. An x-ray is only 2 dimensional so sometimes there are visual mistakes!

We are so happy to have Ruby back at the store, and she is excited to see all of you! Be sure to stop by to say hello!
We have 6 parakeets currently searching for their forever homes! They are all very adorable but not exactly hand tame.
.
But today, this little one decided it was going to trust me months after being surrendered to us! She hopped right onto my hand, then after a few minutes of grooming my skin, she jumped on my head! After she had some fun, her friend decided to trust me as well and jumped on my hand for the first time!
.
It is an amazing feeling when an animal decides to trust you. You never know exactly what their previous home was like, but being a rescue most of our animals have been neglected, abused or abandoned. There is no reason for them to trust humans. So when they finally do, it warms your heart.

Not only do 20 mice (along with our other 100 animals) require a lot of care, but recently the male mice have started to not get along.
We are desperate to find these cuties homes as soon as possible. We are also offering fostering if you would be willing to help out!
