With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.
Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.
If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

Yes Miles, you finally get to leave the never ending barrage of snuggles and belly taps.😂 And while we will miss you, we send you home with all the love and well wishes.
This absolute gorgeous man was brought into Shoreline yesterday, as he was having some troubles. His family admitted him to the hospital for some oxygen therapy and some medications to help him feel better. After a short while, he began to feel more himself and was to go home and get back to the life he loves.
And while we hope you never need us, just know VCA Shoreline is here 24/7/365 for all of your pets emergent medical needs. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out or come on in. 💙❤️

Every day brings something new! Today, we had a visit from baby Everest, a pup who had her baby canine teeth stuck in her lip. It’s a reminder of how varied and unexpected our cases can be. With some gentle maneuvering and a quick examination of her baby teeth, Dr. Kraenzlin and Vet Tech Jamie were able to send her home happily with her family. It’s moments like these that highlight the importance of being prepared for anything in our profession. Here’s to more happy endings, puppy snuggles, and those adorable, big floppy ears!
