Meet Oakley! This resilient guy underwent a partial pancreatectomy to treat his insulinoma and address his peripheral neuropathy. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our Neurology, Emergency Critical Care and Surgery Teams, we were able to treat Oakley’s conditions with precision. We’re thrilled with the progress Oakley is making in his recovery—getting stronger every day! Cases like Oakley’s remind us of the incredible impact teamwork and dedicated pet parents can have on our patients’ outcomes. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Oakley and his devoted family!

If you or someone you know has a passion for animals and science and has thought about becoming a veterinary technician, we're here to help you get there. Canine influenza, or “dog flu,” is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can be passed from dog to dog. It typically starts with a cough and can be mistaken for the more common and well-known Bordetella. In some cases, canine influenza can progress to pneumonia.

This week, our dear friends Carl and his family had to say goodbye to their beloved companion, Thor. For years, Thor faithfully rode alongside his dad in their work truck, waiting patiently for the next adventure. His loyalty, love, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our hearts go out to Thor’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Sweet girl Rebel recently visited our emergency department after experiencing a severe bellyache that led to vomiting. Luckily, her mom acted quickly and brought her in for care. Radiographs showed no signs of obstruction, so Rebel received supportive care and plenty of love. With some extra snuggles and attention at home, she was on the road to recovery. A few days later, we received a happy update from her mom—Rebel is feeling great! Huge thanks to Dr. Schiff and Jamie for their compassionate care. It’s always rewarding to help our furry friends feel better!
