We live on 33 acres, nestled in the rolling hills of Lincoln County, Missouri where we have chosen a path towards self-sufficiency. Our main focus is on raising and growing our own food. We have a 3,000 square foot vegetable garden, fruit trees, nut trees and berry bushes and we preserve the bounty each fall. Our motto: Maybe a person's time would be as well spent raising food as raising money to buy food.
We call our farm Providence as we feel that we have been blessed with our little piece of the Promised Land. We started with just chickens, guineas and meat rabbits when we settled on our homestead. Next we purchased Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, sheep and piglets.
We soon realized that we needed a Livestock Guardian dog. We purchased our first Great Pyrenees in 1998, quickly fell in love with this majestic breed, and wanted to raise them on our farm. The rabbits, sheep, cattle and pigs provide us with wholesome meat. The chickens, turkeys, ducks and quail provide us with fresh eggs and meat. The goats provide us with fresh milk as well as entertainment! Our Gentle Giants are not only beautiful but they are also exemplary guardians, providing our livestock and our family with unwavering protection and love. They are steadfast in their guardian traits and we have not lost any livestock to predators since obtaining the Pyrs!
Our Great Pyrenees are Health Tested and meet the Breed Standard in order to be part of our breeding program. Raising animals is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. We participate in the latest Research and Development to stay on the forefront of good animal husbandry and educate ourselves on Canine Biology to maintain continuing education! We NEVER want to stop learning! We only want the best for our puppies and their Pyrents so we are active participants of Jane Killionβs PUPPY CULTURE program, βThe Powerful First 12 Weeks That Can Shape Your Puppy's Future" because a great deal of the most important ~and irreplaceable~ socialization experiences should take place when the puppy is still with the breeder thus breeders have more opportunity to make a dramatic impact on a puppyβs ultimate personality than anyone else ever will.
