The Bacon family has been involved in production agriculture for more than eight generations. The family's main focus is raising superior genetics to market to others. The operation takes great pride in selling bulls to the commercial cattleman, and show heifers and market lambs to 4-H and FFA youth. We had a great trip up to KC for the American Royal and American Hereford Association meeting!

Craig got to give his report during the annual meeting as Chairman of the CHB🥩 board while the girls enjoyed the cows…both stuffed and real 😉

Some great learning during the sessions at the annual meeting and a great time connecting with fellow breeders and old friends!

125 years to the day.

The story of the American Royal began on October 23, 1899, when the National Hereford Show graced the grounds of the Kansas City Stockyards. This event marked the first nationwide show for the exhibition and sale of purebred cattle, and shortly after adopted the name 'the American Royal'.

Believe it or not this was the calm before the storm ⛈️ on December 23rd! Fast forward and our first group is done lambing 😅 We are thankful for all who let us be a part of their journey in 2023. If this first group of lambs is any insight into 2024 we think this year may be one for the books! Keep an eye 👀 out for dates for our first open house and a sale listing for all the live sales and online sales we will participate in!

We’ve been keeping busy since lambing season started, with a great group of AI and ET lambs on the ground, adding a new baby to the family and Oliver getting his sheep skills sharpened for the sale season. We are extra thankful for the added help of our college students during this busy season! We’ve been quiet 🤫, but this group is definitely something to talk about. We are excited to welcome you to the farm to see for yourself. Stay tuned for our open house date! In the meantime, enjoy this video of our number one shepherd in training!
