Hello and meet Sunny. Before our rescue started he was trapped and supposed to be released back to where we feed community cats but after our good friend , Debbie Griffis had him at her house to heal after surgery she noticed that something was not right with his eye. She took him to the vet and they said that they thought he had been abused and that someone had taken an object and hit him with it and that's why he had eye , head, and tooth trauma. Debbie knew that she could not let him out again for this to possibly happen for a second time. She took him in under her wings and still has him today. However, his tooth has become infected and he's on antibiotics and it will have to come out. Debbie is a very good friend of ours and she has helped us with several cats before we started our rescue. Whenever we needed help she was just a call away. Now, we want to give back to Debbie and help her with Sunny's surgery. He will be going to the vet at 9:30 on Tuesday to have his tooth out and if you feel led to donate and help with the expense of the surgery please call it into Animal Veterinary Associates under Debbie Griffis ! She has taken in several cats and given them wonderful lives and we know that it's very expensive for her to take care of all these cats so please whether it's a small or bigger donation help Sunny !

Tonight our official Cat Whisperer, Stephanie took it a step beyond my petting Smokey with a back scratcher and took the plunge with petting him with her hand with his hissing and spitting and also picked him up. This is a huge step for the scared lil boy and I'm so excited 😻

I would like to share with you something that periodically has been on my mind. I've been told by several people and a shelter that cats can make it outside just eating birds and wildlife and that I don't need to feed them. I do not feel that this is true because we've seen several cats that are starving and that have thrown up twigs and rocks because they didn't have anything else to eat. If you are ever faced with needing to feed a cat and someone tells you this do not believe it. Cats cannot everyday find a bird or squirrel to eat.

This kitty named Smyrna is at Blue Pearl as I post this. WITH TEARS IN OUR EYES AND SADNESS IN OUR HEARTS SMYRNA GOT HIS ANGELIC WINGS. HE WAS SUFFERING SO MUCH AND WAS GOING INTO SHOCK SO WE SAY GOODBYE FOR NOW!!!!

We are in desperate need of donations. We have a kitten that needs to go to emergency vet today. We have $0 funds and we are tapped out. WE HOPE TO FIND MOONSTONE A FOREVER HOME SOON. THIS STORY BELOW IS FROM THE FOSTER WHO GRACIOUSLY TOOK IN MOONSTONE AND 3 OTHER SIBLINGS AND CARED FOR THEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. MOONSTONE IS STILL IN HER CARE BECAUSE WE FEEL THAT MOONSTONE NEEDS A HOME WITH A DIFFERENT ADOPTEE WHO CAN GIVE HER WHAT WE FEEL SHE NEEDS WITH HER DISABILITY!!!! I was notified of a mother cat who had kittens who was still nursing who needed a home. The rescue had to catch them in ones and twos and Miss Moonstone was in the second group rescued. I called her Moonstone because I was going for a jewelry / gemstone theme. Her mama was named Pearl, and she's the spitting image of her. We already had Pearl and another kitten at our home when Moonstone (and Onyx) arrived. They were all so happy to see each other!! As they ran to her and around the foster room, exploring, Brandon commented - I think that one has a hurt leg or something! Upon closer inspection and after getting it confirmed by a vet, her back left leg didn't finish developing. The tip of her tail is also crooked. The vet said she was almost certainly born this way. She certainly does not let it interfere with her living her best life!! She IS extremely cautious, but once you get her in your arms, she snuggles and purrs and loves to be petted. She does fine with other cats - they honestly ignore her and she ignores them. She did play enthusiastically with her brothers! I believe while she doesn't let her disability get in her way, she instinctively knows to be cautious. We've moved her into her own room in the house and when things are quiet, she comes out and loves to play with ribbons on a stick and gets lots and lots of petting from us humans. She's incredibly soft and so beautiful!

I love the name Inky that was chosen by Kingston for their new Foster kitty. Look at Marly enjoying the bed, lol. Inky was welcomed with a gift basket and looks like he's settling in wonderfully. Hello everyone. We have had to step in to save numerous cats lives. Several have been vetted but we have more that need to go to the vet. One kitty had to go to the vet because of an injury from an unsafe toy. Please don't wait until the situation gets out of hand to ask for help ! It makes it harder on everyone!!!!! There is paws, joy clinic in Lebanon,and Beasley in Murfreesboro that are free or low cost spay and neuter

Make no mistake - this was not an accident.

It is their INSTINCT. They (male and female) will do anything they can to find a way out when it is time to mate.

We hear different versions of this ALL THE TIME.

"I thought it was a male, but turns out she's female."
Never assume the gender of a cat. Never take someone else's word for it. BOTH genders need to be fixed for their health and well-being on top of helping with overpopulation.

"I thought kitten season was over."
Kitten season is never over. Plain and simple.

"She doesn't even like going outside, but she got out when my kids had the door open."
When mating is the only thing on their mind, they will escape any chance possible - guaranteed.

"I didn't have enough money to fix her right now. There's no way I can afford her AND kittens?"
Certainly a reasonable statement. But, if you know you cannot afford mama and her kittens (because it WILL happen), it is best to try to make other arrangements for her. Reach out to every shelter, rescue or low-cost clinic to see what options you have. You may find someone to help. Taking care of mama and four kittens is likely more expensive than the low-cost spay surgery. And please, please don't hand off your unspayed female to someone else unless you know the person and are absolutely positive they will have her fixed. Make a plan BEFORE you are stuck in this bad situation.

"We were keeping her inside until she got spayed, but she pushed the screen out of the window last night!"
And if she comes back, she will be pregnant and you will now have kittens to deal with on top of mom.

"We don't have any male cats around here, so I don't know how she got pregnant."
Male cats will travel up to 5 miles in search of a female in heat.

"She's just a kitten. I had no idea she was old enough to get pregnant."
It is possible for kittens to get pregnant at only 4 months of age.

The 1️⃣ answer that solves all of these scenarios is to have your cats spayed or neutered before the age of 4 months. There are ZERO "accidents" if they are fixed. To you, it's just one litter. To shelters and rescues, it's another litter they can't absorb.

Someone is having a growth spurt! Look at those long legs. Houdini is having a ball at his foster's house(so much that he's worn himself out and needed a nap). He will be up for adoption before long but he does pick and choose whether he likes other furbahies or not. Tony was a feral boy when he was trapped. We got him young and we fostered. He is now ours. Tigerlilly is the kitten that had two surgeries for her pr*****ed colon. These two are getting along even though they just now are being allowed to be together. We are fostering Tigerlilly. She will be available for adoption in about 4 months. But she is a special needs kitty so someone special will need to apply to adopt her.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A BARN CAT WE ONLY ADOPT OUT ADULT CATS THAT ARE MAINLY FERAL , NO KITTENS!!!!THEIR ARE VERY FEW INSTANCES WHERE WE MAKE EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE AND GIVE SOMEONE A FRIENDLY ADULT BARN CAT. There are several reasons for this. They are easier prey for predators, they can almost always be socialized , and we don't like friendly kittens who are easily adopted and can go to indoor homes to be put outside where there is already a high percentage of kittens not making it outside already !!!!!!!

The Siamese kittens are safe and sound in their litter box until they get used to their new Foster! The third one will be joining them soon and they are going to be spoiled by Jan! We are so blessed to have such good fosters and these babies are going to be living it up for sure !

My name is George and I like the outdoors but I sure want to come in when it starts getting cold and not be left out in the woods to find a warm spot to lay my head at night. I don't understand why someone TNR'd me and dumped me back outside not knowing whether I'd be fed or not and I'm friendly and I like people and I like to be loved on. I'm so thankful for a kind lady who had heard about my situation and comes and feeds me everyday. She would love to take me in but she has too many fur babies of her own so she's hoping that I find a forever home where I can be loved on everyday and I don't have to be out in the woods all by myself not knowing what might possibly try to hurt me. Look at Topaz snuggling on our foster's feet! He and his siblings are doing so good with getting used to humans and our fosters have worked diligently with socializing them.
