It’s going to be a hot one these next several days!! Make sure your pets are safe from heat related dangers. Take walks during cooler hours and keep it brief, stay hydrated (No salt water!), avoid asphalt & other hot surfaces including sand, and recognize the signs of heat exhaustion/stroke. Brachycephalic (smooshed face) breeds are more susceptible to heat related illnesses so just keep them inside. These are your Bulldog breeds, Pugs, Boxers, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Spaniels, etc.

This sweet little lady was dropped off by a good samaritan after being hit by a car near Ocean City. Our surgical nurse, Allison, drove her to the Wetland’s Institute in Stone Harbor where she will receive the best care. Can you count all of her eggs?

Warmer weather and our dog babies are outside drinking out of fresh water puddles, lakes, & streams. Maybe a raccoon infected with leptospirosis urinated in that water recently?? Check out the comments to find out why we recommend the Leptospirosis vaccine.

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most difficult decisions pet owners face. At Absecon Veterinary Hospital, we understand the profound bond between pets and their families, and we're here to support you every step of the way.

In times of grief and loss, it's essential to have a supportive community to lean on. That is why we've partnered with Mindfully Active to bring you a monthly virtual support group for pet owners coping with pet loss. Whether you're facing the decision of letting go, grieving the loss of a beloved companion, or seeking solace and understanding from others who have been in a similar situation, our support group provides a safe and compassionate space to share your emotions, find comfort, and receive guidance from experienced professionals.

Our first session will be April 4th, and will take place every first Thursday through Zoom. Scan the QR code to sign up!

72 degrees and 😎- Time to start thinking about protecting your furry friends. Did you know that ticks become active at temperatures above freezing (they love the 🌞 and warmer weather)! Fleas can also be a major problem even in the ❄️. And pretty soon those pesky mosquitos 🦟 will make a return. **Our doctors & staff recommend the use of heartworm, flea & tick prevention all year long**

Call us today - we can recommend the right preventative suitable for your pet.
