Snowstorm season is here, and it looks like we are getting into a snowy cycle! ❄️ Are you ready to keep your home warm and cozy? If you have an oil heat system, here are some tips to prepare it for the winter weather:

- Check your fuel oil tank regularly and schedule deliveries before it runs low. You don't want to run out of oil when it's freezing outside! 🥶
- Change your air filters to improve the efficiency and performance of your furnace. Dirty filters can reduce airflow and increase energy costs. 💸
- Test your thermostat and make sure it's working properly. If it's too dusty, old or faulty, consider cleaning or replacing it with a programmable or smart thermostat that can help you save money and energy. 💡
- Schedule regular maintenance for your oil heat system with a professional technician. They can inspect, clean, and tune up your furnace and oil tank to prevent any problems or breakdowns. 🛠️
- Check for any blocked vents, air leaks, or insulation issues around your home. Make sure your heating system has enough ventilation and airflow, and seal any gaps or cracks that can let cold air in. 🌬️

Follow these simple steps, and your oil heat system will be ready to keep you warm and comfortable all winter long. Stay safe and enjoy the snow! ☃️

Hey there, bird lovers!

With a snowy forecast ahead, let's talk about a wonderful way to help our feathered friends: bird feeding! ❄️🐦

As the winter weather sets in, it can be challenging for birds to find enough food. This is where we can step in and provide them with a much-needed helping hand. By offering a variety of bird seeds, suet, and even fruit, we can help ensure they have the energy to brave the cold temperatures.

But remember, it's important to set up bird feeders properly. Place them out of reach of any predators, and make sure they are sturdily anchored to avoid spillage. Also, keep feeders clean and filled with fresh food to minimize the spread of diseases.

Winter is a wonderful time to observe a myriad of beautiful bird species that may not typically frequent your backyard. So stop by and pick up some Aspen Song Wild Bird Food and enjoy the delightful sights and sounds of our feathered friends during the snowstorm!

Let's all lend a wing to our avian buddies and make their winter a little cozier. Share your birdfeeding tips and experiences in the comments below!

Stay warm and happy birdwatching! 🐦❄️

We have several kinds of ice melts in stock. Stop in and take a look. Some light reading while you are thinking about what is the right one to get.

Ice melts are products that help to remove ice and snow from surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, and roads. They work by lowering the freezing point of water, making it easier to melt and prevent re-freezing. There are different types of ice melts, such as rock salt, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, and potassium chloride. Each one has its own benefits and drawbacks, depending on the temperature, environmental impact, cost, and availability. Here are some factors to consider when choosing an ice melt for your needs:

- Rock salt is the most common and cheapest ice melt, but it is also the most corrosive and harmful to plants and animals. It works best at temperatures above 15°F.
- Calcium chloride is the most effective ice melt, as it can work at temperatures as low as -25°F. It also releases heat when it dissolves, which helps to speed up the melting process. However, it is more expensive but tends to be safer for concrete.
- Magnesium chloride is a less corrosive and more environmentally friendly ice melt than rock salt or calcium chloride. It works at temperatures above 5°F. It is also less harmful to plants and animals, but it can still cause skin irritation and respiratory problems.
- Potassium chloride is another eco-friendly ice melt that is safe for plants and animals. It works at temperatures above 20°F. It is also less damaging to concrete and metal surfaces, but it is more expensive and less effective than other ice melts.

Choosing the right ice melt for your situation can help you to keep your surfaces clear and safe during the winter season. Remember to follow the instructions on the package and use the appropriate amount of ice melt for your area. Stay warm and safe!
